I grew up listening to Benny Hester's album, Benny From Here, which contained: Secret Thoughts, Streets of Las Vegas, When God Ran, Susie Said Yeah, To Fill Our Empty Hearts, Back To Basics, Can I Get To You From Here, Whoever Touches You, Marching On, and Hold Me.

Many of my favorites from this album can be found on PERSONAL BEST. And I was very thankful to be able to find these songs on CD--particularly When God Ran and To Fill Our Hearts--which were my favorites then and now.

I also enjoyed learning some new songs by Benny (and by "new" I mean new to me).

Nobody Knows Me Like You -- this song became an instant favorite. The piano is beautiful, and the lyrics are so poignant. It was as if the song were written just for me. I love it. 5 stars.

Be A Receiver -- a pleasant enough song, 4 stars

Legacy -- still pleasant, 4 stars

Secret Thoughts -- this song transports me back to my childhood...so by all means it earns 5 stars.

Remember Me-- another beautiful song. 4 stars

Jesus Came Into My Life -- nice song, 4 stars, for some reason it reminds me of the style of Orleans...

Melody Man, Out of the Natural, Underground River, Rubber Canoe nice enough background songs, but they don't stand out ... 3 stars

Whoever Touches You -- love it, 5 stars

To Fill Our Empty Hearts -- love it, 5 stars

Christ the Solid Rock -- nice and pleasant, 4 stars

When God Ran -- love it!!! 5 stars

This CD would be near perfect if only it contained Susie Said Yeah! and Can I Get To You From Here.

But overall a nice CD with a blend of fast and slow songs.

I had two old cassettes of Benny years ago ("Benny From Here" and I can't remember name of other one). Both were amazing and inspiring music. This CD has some songs from those albums, but not all. Newer songs on the album I was not familiar with turned out to be pretty good songs, like :
1) Remember me
2) Rubber Canoe and
3) Christ the solid Rock


1. Nobody Knows Me Like You (you put your arms around me and bring me thru, there's many times I don't know what to do. Thought some know me well, still nobody knows me like you) .....amazing song, great worship to the Lord

2. Be A Receiver (of God's Word, open your heart and let Him come on in. Be a receiver, and share what you've learned. He wants to fill you, he wants to give you. Let Him on min, yeah let Him come on in.).....fantastic. faster beat. ministers to others.

3. Legacy ....makes me think of people who have kids(he wants to leave a legacy)

4. Secret Thoughts .....we all need to hear this song. (cut it out, Jesus sees!)

5. Remember Me ....slower paced. worship.great!

6. Jesus Came Into My Life ....faster paced. upbeat. joyous!

7. Melody Man (I'll be your melody man, and I want you to see..that you bring out the love song...in me)

8. Out of the Natural ...really good song. good beat. drums.

9. Underground River ...it's okay, but I probably don't play that song enought to get familiar with it.

10. Rubber Canoe ....pretty good once I listened to it enough times.

11. Hold Me (Lord I cry, Hold me..you hold me. when the world comes crashing in, you prove once again...till the end...in the end you hold me.)....GREATsong! slower paced.

12. Whoever Touches You (touches the apple of my eye, oh my child, whoever touches you, touches the apple of my eye, you are my treasure, in me you can hide...whoever touches you).......... great song. reasures you that he watches out for his children.

13. To Fill Our Empty Hearts ...great song. good beat. talks about how Jesus came out of an empty tomb (to fill our empty hearts)

14. Christ The Solid Rock ......pretty good once I listened to it enough times.

15. When God Ran ....great song. makes me cry everytime! Wow...He loves us THAT much?!!! Reminds me of the prodigal son.
