This review is from: Personal Faith, Public Policy: The 7 urgent issues that we, as people of faith, need to come together and solve. (Hardcover)
This book is written by two men who come from very different backgrounds. One is a Republican the other a Democrat, but some how they have managed to do what the House and Senate have not been able to do for years, agree! Despite their different backgrounds both Jackson and Perkins present very clear and practical resolutions to seven issues that are before the heart of every person of faith: preserve and protect life; reform immigration; alleviate domestic poverty; cultivate racial harmony; protect religious freedom; defend marriage and family; and protect the environment. These men don't waste the readers time with political rhetoric, their book is not overwhelmed with scriptures from the Bible that leave the reader over powered, and their certainly is not a leaning towards the right or left; rather they presented the problems along with resolutions. In the end the reader is faced with the pivotal choice to administer change in our society. This book is instrumental for the life of every American and will effect and provoke our society to change if we choose to apply the resolutions presented before us. My fellow Americans, it is not the election of a President that is going to change our situation it is the understanding that America has always had a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. We the PEOPLE must be the orchestrators of change! Pick up your copy today and begin to initiate change for our country.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read For This Year's Election, March 11, 2008
This review is from: Personal Faith, Public Policy: The 7 urgent issues that we, as people of faith, need to come together and solve. (Hardcover)
Amazing---a black Harvard grad meets up with a white leader of a pro-famioy organization and voila...who would know they could not only agree on something but define positive ways to address the issues facing the U.S. today? This has just enough research and info to make it credible, but not boring and just enough scripture to give the issues framework, without making it totally opinionated. Evey voter should get a copy and pass it around their office!

I bought this book after hearing Harry Jackson speak. Finally read it 8 months later. FANTASTIC book. If you are a christian who's been wrestling with what a Biblical perspective is on solving the pressing issues in America today, how the church can play a role, and how you can play a role, this book is what you need to read. No matter what your political affiliations or family background is, you will benefit from this book. Absolutely worth your time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Current issues dealt with balance of perspectives, August 9, 2010
This review is from: Personal Faith, Public Policy: The 7 urgent issues that we, as people of faith, need to come together and solve. (Hardcover)
Great book on dealing with the issues of the day. The end of the book especially spoke to my heart on how to find balance and make a difference. The global warming issue is well addressed like all the issues. This issue in particular spoke to me as to how easily we sway as a culture from one direction to the other with enough media and publicity without substantial evidence. The authors point out how in the early 70's scientist were writing and speaking about a forthcoming Ice age and now some 40 years later we are seeing pushed a global warming agenda. The agenda is not for the first time, but rather a second or third time since the late 1800's. The authors always bring the focus back around to the Word of God and leave the reader with hope and a divine perspective on all these current matters. A well done write on the very personal and deep seated issues of the day. Social Justice and poverty issues was the best perspective I have yet read. thumbs up to these men of God who wrote with such clarity and authority.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Odd Couple Of This Century, March 19, 2008
This review is from: Personal Faith, Public Policy: The 7 urgent issues that we, as people of faith, need to come together and solve. (Hardcover)
Who would have thought that a Democrat and a Republic could see eye to eye in today's political feud. Well, this phenomenon occurs when Harry Jackson and Tony Perkins come together under the submission of God to give our nation a well needed wake-up call. Everyone has a part to play and "Personal Fath Public Policy" challenges each one of us to examine our faith and what we value as a people inorder to cleanse this nation of its sins. This is a text book for college students and a guide for those of us who want to save this country from itself. A must read!
