5.0 out of 5 stars Do you want to learn how to make money? August 28, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Jack Kapoor has written this book in a way that really captures your attention.
This book is great for beginners and teaches you the basics of how the stock market works.
It is a good way to begin learning the terms and meanings of many technical terms they
use in the stock market. You have come to the right place if you are wanting to learn how to invest.

-easy read
-lots of valuable information
-great book for beginners at investing
-you will learn all of the basics

I took Finance 101 at UNLV and they required me to purchase this book. Buying books at the campus
bookstore is really not the right thing to do. It is way too expensive compared with the price you can get
it on here. Not only did I learn a lot from taking this class and reading this book, it had made me
completely change my whole major. This book is great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rent or Buy? BUY March 26, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I pity the reviewer who said the subject is long and boring. There is so much information in this book that I'll be sharing with my less-than-financially savvy family members. There are internet resources listed throughout, detailed instructions for deciphering everything from credit disclosure statements to insurance and investment offers. In a nutshell, this is an excellent manual for living in the grown-up world, where we earn money, spend money, and try not to think about some future date when we no longer have the abilities to do either. There is a great section in the back for personal financial planning, but the publisher also offers the worksheets in Excel format on their website (no access code required).

I rented this book but did so several weeks before the semester (when supply is high and rental rates are lower), but I'll be buying a copy to keep for personal reference. Yeah, lesson learned. I'd have saved money if I'd bought instead of rented. :D

5.0 out of 5 stars Rental for Class - Great Savings! March 26, 2014
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I had to have this book for an 8 week class I just started. It was going to be $180 at school and I really didn't have the money to pay for it. I happened to see something on Amazon about renting textbooks and I checked it out. With my Student Prime, I got it in 2 days, free shipping, and it was in perfect shape. I'd much rather pay $40 to rent a book that I won't use again. Also found out we aren't gonna use this edition next semester, so they wouldn't have bought it back from me. Great deal - will definitely get more of my text books this way! Thanks Amazon - you are a Godsend for poor college students!!!

It is too bad that our country's educational system does not REQUIRE high school seniors to take a course that includes material found in this book. I used this book as an elective class in college. I learned a lot about the things I need to decide for myself with not just my finances, but all the things life will force you to decide on how to spend your finances. Things like life insurance, car insurance, home mortgages, renting vs. buying, etc...

This is the kind of book you should buy if you are a young adult struggling to make sense with the many options in life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book! January 10, 2014
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
"Personal Finance" was required for a community college course I recently took. This book is an easy read offering an understandable format for just about everyone. I told several friends and ordered this one through Amazon for my nephew. I believe it targets ALL generations - especially since the recent recession - on how to understand, plan, and protect your financial future. I paid $176.00 for this book and found it on Amazon "like new" for $35.00. Excellent deal - excellent book!

I am learning to become financially literate with this book. I am taking a course in Personal Finance, and this is our text, the best the teacher could have selected. I am learning to pay my bills better and be more on time. I hope this means that I can also make larger payments to Amazon!!!! The book has up-to-date, state-of-the-art information and many external resources to augment its application for learning.
