Ultimate Spirit Lifter, March 1, 1999
This review is from: Personal Inspirations (Audio CD)
I got this tape when it first came out years ago and believe me it is the ultimate. Ms. Mills puts her true testimonies on this album. Times when I'm down I just put this cassette in my tape player and my soul and burdens are lifted. This is a one of thee best gospel albums to collect for your own personal collection. I highly recommend this album. And as always Ms. Mills gives her all and all in whatever she sings. Can't wait til she's back on the R&B list. Best Wishes Ms. Mills.

STEPHANIE BRINGS OUT THE GOSPEL WITH A "PERSONAL INSPIRATION, October 21, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Personal Inspirations (Audio CD)
On her first Gospel album debut for Los Angeles based Gospo-Centric Records Stephanie Mills shines sizzles and sings with a Personal Inspiration and now for your listening pleasure a song by song tracklist,
1. I had a talk with God,
This song is based on a childhood song in Stephanie's childhood that she had sung when she was seven years old and is performed live at her childhood church and is dedicated to Sandy F. Ray who died in 1979,
2. Sweeping through the city,
A cover of The Caravans classic of the same name. A feel good fun gospel song,
3. He Cares,
A Piano tinged ballad that is the standout track on the album,
4. In the morning time,
This fun pop tune is a dancey song with gospel flair,
5. Everything you touch,
I believe that a song can be shared among friends" Stephanie sings in this wonderful song about the wonders of friendship,
6. Everybody Ought To Know,
Okay but not the best song,
7. Power Of God,
A gospel version of her 1986 hit Power Of love but same lyrics,
8. People Get Ready,
What can I say a feel good type of song,
9. He Cares Part II,
This is a reprise of track 3 but longer,
10. I'm gonna make you proud,
What a way to close this album,
If you haven't heard a good gospel cd as good as this pick up Personal Inspiration and hear REAL gospel.

Personal Inspirations, March 31, 2001
Leave it to Stephanie to cover every area of music. I was so happy to know that she made time to do a gospel recording. After hearing her actual gospel debut on the Tri- City Singers 1993 cd titled "A songwriters point of veiw". I knew she needed to do her own thing. The song on Tri Citys cd was called, "I walk with the King" and there was another one called "Glory,Glory" both which were done live. When stephanie first mentioned doing a gospel cd, she said it would be a live one. That was the only disappointment about Personal Inspirations. Stephanie standing only 4'11, can sho nuff sang. There is no doubt about that. She is particularly recognized as one of the bestlive performers to date. Ok, back to the PI cd. I feel this is a really nice cd.Maybe because I am a fan. But i must say that I think it could have been better. I expected something a bit more in dept from Stephanie. She is now 44 years old and recently and new mother, and I don't think she has any plans on stopping now. I look forward to her new music, and seeing her live on stage where she belongs.
