One of the best songs in "alternative" history. Period. I first caught wind of it as a video on MTV in spring 1990. That distinctive musical hook reeled me right in. I had been aware of DM as a synth band for a few years before that and never disliked anything they did (though I'm still not overtly fond of the early work with Vince Clarke, frankly), but this bowled me right over, and I've listened to DM faithfully on radio, etc. ever since. However, not until my recent acquisition of a CD player have I rediscovered Depeche Mode, and the first DM CD that I bought was this Maxi-Single. This group is definitely a "singles" band. Their albums are very good, but the infinitely creative ways they remix their singles is truly impressive and cutting edge, anticipating the current "electronica" movement by a full decade. Each maxi-single is a mini-album of merit itself. The most impressive track on this single has to be the Acoustic Mix of Personal Jesus, showing that the band is much, much more than a synthetic one. And the B-side, Dangerous, deserved to be on the Violator album perhaps even more than other tracks actually on the album. Almost 10 years after it's initial release in late 1989, Personal Jesus (and its great remixes) is as classic as ever!

I first procured and heard this CD in about '92. I was in rapture while listening to the Dangerous mixes. This is was not DM as I had been used to. If you enjoy sensual, psychedelic, house-beat music, I believe that you may find this to be one of the very best CDs that you ever buy. Music is not my life, but I was very dispondent when this CD got stolen from me in '94. I have searched a lot of music stores in the hopes of finding another copy, to no avail. I was extremely delighted when, on a hopeful hunch, I found that Amazon.com had it. Check the sample of track 1. Track 2 is even better. Enjoy. : )

Back in the day I bought this single CD after hearing on several occasions the "new tune" from DM I kept hearing in the Club. To my surprise I wasn't finding it off any new release. But it was a B side tune with Personal Jesus on a single CD? I guess DM didn't feel it was worthy enough. It's kinda euro house club sounding, puts you in a trance feel, I can tell you that the cut "Dangerous" will grab you as one of the best you'll hear from DM, I skip over Personal Jesus everytime.

Personal Jesus is a great song. This is what made Depeche Mode even bigger, to include more of the everday folks! Dangerous, which is not released on any album or collection is right here on this little CD Single! GREAT SONG! I have been a Depeche Mode fan for along time and I remember the DJ's playing this song on the radio. I did not own the CD Single at that time! Not too long ago I picked up this single for myself. Not even realizing Dangerous was on this CD! What a plesant surprise! The listing does not even mention that Dangerous is on the single!
I honestly I can't believe more people have not written reviews on this one!
Trust me it is worth it, "They're the one's that I would choose"

"Personal Jesus" is a great song, in almost any form. "Dangerous" is also a wonderful song that really should have been included on the "Violator" album. Whatever, this is a great single. Nothing sucks on this CD, so get it already.

Possibly the best single : the remixes , the accoustic version , the B-side : Dangerous. Nowadays you can listen to it and the time has not passed by. It's perfect. The video clip is worse than the song in fact.

Dangerous to me is Depeche Mode's best song. This is my absolute favorite song from them in any version. It's just extermely sexy. Besides "Stripped" one of DM's best. This is a great single.

The first single lifted from 1990's "Violator," this track is among the most memorable songs from Depeche Mode. With booming drum beats and a nifty guitar twang, "Personal Jesus" helped elevate the synth pop foursome to superstardom, despite the fact that the lyrics have often been misinterpreted as spiritual. On this maxi-single, we get a few remixes, but the standout tracks are definitely the folkish acoustic version and the solid b-side "Dangerous." A great single that deserved its top 40 success in America.
