Book Description

December 19, 2008 0495560081 978-0495560081 7
PERSONAL NUTRTION, 7th Edition, is written for an undergraduate applied introductory nutrition course found in departments of Nutrition, Family and Consumer Science, Health Science, and Physical Education. Students taking this course may receive a science credit or general education credit, or they may enroll in the course for personal interest. At twelve chapters, this is the shortest introductory text on the market that also covers a wide variety of nutrition topics. It begins by defining nutrition, examines macro- and micronutrients, and ends by discussing life-cycle and global food issues. The text is accessible and personal--designed to improve a student's understanding of food, nutrition, digestion, and health--and contains very little biochemistry.

This book was not required but highly recommended by my professor for my class. It's worth the money. Easy to read and understand. Get this book if you want to learn about nutrition (whether in a nutrition class or not) in a clear and understandable manner!

5.0 out of 5 stars love this book, March 7, 2007
This book is a must have. It dispells myths and has current up-to-date information on diets, using sugar sweetners (splenda, aspartame etc) great ideas on how to lower cholesterol, foods that are high in carbs, vitamins, fats, minerals etc. Great to use for teaching purposes as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wealth of Knowledge, July 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Personal Nutrition (Available Titles Coursemate) (Paperback)
I had to get this book for an online basic nutrition course. It was a favorite out of all of the books I've had. Very easy to read, with a wealth of detailed knowledge thats clearly presented. Key "vocab" words are pushed out to the sides, making it easy to find while flipping back through. Excellent appendices with TONS of relevant knowledge. Great stories on "non-traditional" concepts in Health and Wellness. I'll be keeping this book for my own references in the future...
