A Treasure,
By Alison Wiltbank "Ali" (Norfolk Virginia,& Kampala, Uganda) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Personal Recollections: From Early Life to Old Age (Women of Letters) (Hardcover)
I have not read this book yet, but my sister has, and she says it is a treasure. She did NOT want to return it to the library. Mary Somerville was a gifted lady with a fine mind and a will to learn. When she was a girl, she disobeyed her parents and studied algebra and Euclid at night by candlelight. A mathematician and astronomer, she also loved God. According to Wikipedia, she wrote clearly and precisely. When she was old, birds came and sat on her shoulders. I'm buying two copies, one for my sister and one for myself.
