More About the Author

Heather MacAllister lives in Texas and is married to her high-school sweetheart. Following the instructions in How to Get a Teen-Age Boy, and What to Do with Him When You Get Him by Ellen Peck, one of her all-time favorite books, she expressed an interest in his hobby -- ham radio. He challenged her -- learn Morse code and get her license, and he'd take her to the senior prom. She did, and currently sports her call sign, WB5RMA, on her car license plate.

Heather became addicted to romance novels in college, yet still managed to graduate and become a music teacher. And then her sons were born. Within seven months, nine baby-sitters quit, so she took pity on the childcare industry, quit teaching, and began avoiding housework by writing during her sons' nap time.

Heather has published over 45 books with Harlequin. Her award-winning romantic comedies have been translated into 25 languages and published in dozens of countries.

Before she was published, Heather won the Romance Writer's of America Golden Heart Award. Her published novels have been nominated for the RWA RITA award three times, and Harlequin.com readers voted LONE STAR SANTA favorite Laugh-Out-Loud book of 2006. In addition to awards for best Harlequin Romance and best Harlequin Temptation, Romantic Times Book Reviews has twice nominated Heather for a Career Achievement Award in Series Love and Laughter.

When she's not writing, Heather spends her time collecting vintage jewelry, watching fireworks displays, and killing plants.

4.0 out of 5 stars A delightful romantic comedy, January 30, 2001
Courtney Weathers started the ball rolling by placing an ad in Additudes trying to find a date for her overprotective older sister Brooke to get her off her back. Fellow West Houston High School student Jeff Ryan responds because he needs air to survive his senior year under the auspices of his stepbrother Chase Davenport. Apparently, Chase is a workaholic who dates beautiful women until they give up as he always chooses the job over them.

Courtney and Chase love their siblings, but need a little more space before they are so stifled that ER will not revive them. However, efforts to just get Chase and Brooke to meet, meets with disdain from both targets and ultimately fail. The two conspirators raise the stakes by informing their siblings that they plan to marry. The responsible adults think their teenage charges are out of control with hormones running free. Chase and Brooke agree to meet to discuss counterstrategy so that the youngsters do not do something foolish. Neither one is prepared for the instant attraction, but will their singles lifestyles keep them from realizing that love is in the air?

PERSONAL RELATIONS is a humorous contemporary romance due to the antics of the teenage matchmakers. The lead couple is as serious-minded charcaters one will find in a romance novel, but the high school duo serve as counterpoints with a variety of weapons such as blackmail, aphrodisiacs, and other things at their disposal. Readers will watch what they eat after reading Heather MacAllister's merry matchmaking mirth.

5.0 out of 5 stars personal ads once again strike a personal note!, March 28, 2001
Readers who loved the last The Personal Touch! novel will cheer the return of the personal ad that changes lives in PERSONAL RELATIONS, the latest fun novel of this miniseries by Heather MacAllister.

When Courtney places a personal ad in Attitudes, seeking a valentine for her older sister, a fellow classmate by the name of Jeff responds. These high school seniors are determined their elder siblings will put personal relations ahead of work. And if they have to say they are getting married to achieve the desired response, then that's just what they will do.

Jeff's brother has life all planned out for him, believing his younger ex-step brother should follow in his footsteps. Likewise, Brook refuses to allow her younger sister to follow her dream of attending acting school. So Jeff and Brook decide that if they can get their elder siblings dating, they might gain more control over their lives and their plans for the future. But when a casual introduction becomes impossible, Jeff and Courtney announce they are getting married, bringing Brook and Chase into tremendous conflict.

PERSONAL RELATIONS is over the top on the risqué meter! I giggled from beginning to end, and the bit about the panties had me rolling! The tension and the sizzle of this novel is extraordinary. MacAllister has gift for making the risqué funny. These characters are believable, humorous and delightful. And the unexpected twist at the end certainly caught me by surprise. Very highly recommended.
