Book Description

From Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo, the author of the New York Times best seller Eat Right for Your Type, and Chef Kristin O'Connor, comes Personalized Living Using the Blood Type Diet® - Simple and Delicious Recipes for Type O, the first cookbook designed to meet your unique nutritional needs by following the principles of the Blood Type Diet®. With a focus on whole foods, including lean, grass-fed beef, beneficial fruits and vegetables, and Type O friendly grains, O'Connor's contemporary recipes enable you to eat the foods you love while taking the guesswork out of making delicious, healthy meals. The Type O cookbook contains over 150 easy-to-prepare recipes that maximize flavor and minimize prep time. Along with recipes, you'll find step-by-step how-to's, pantry stocking tips, and simple ingredient substitutions that make following the Blood Type Diet even easier. Whether you're just starting to Eat Right for Your Type or have been successfully following the program and are interested in adding to your repertoire of recipes, the Personalized Nutrition Using the Blood Type Diet Type O cookbook is your guide to healthy living.

Here are a few of the mouth-watering recipes that can be found in the Personalized Living Using the Blood Type Diet® - Simple and Delicious Recipes for Type O cookbook:

  • Pumpkin Muffins with Carob Syrup

  • Broccoli Feta Frittata

  • Salmon Black Bean Cakes with Creamy Basil Sauce

  • Matcha Mojito Tea

  • Almond Cranberry Biscotti

Your Blood Type and Your Health

Have you ever wondered why your best friend can eat a thick juicy steak with no discomfort, but one bite, and you're immediately bloated and feeling horrible? The explanation may be as simple as your blood type - scientists know that people with blood type O have significantly higher levels of stomach acid than people with blood type A, making that steak easier for people with blood type O to digest. Or maybe your blood type B spouse feels sluggish after eating roast chicken for Sunday dinner - were you aware that chicken causes type B blood to clump together? These are just two examples illustrating how your blood type gene influences your health, your digestion and even your immune system. In 1996, Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo published Eat Right for Your Type®, a New York Times best seller that has hovered at the top of Amazon's best selling health books for 16 years. His theory that your blood type has an overwhelming influence on your health has been lauded by both scientists and the people who continue to live and eat according to their type.

Dr. Peter D'Adamo is a naturopathic physician and author of 18 books on health and nutrition and numerous scientific articles. He is a frequent speaker at medical conferences and the Director of the newly formed Center of Excellence in Generative Medicine at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. He is a member of the AANP and was selected as their Physician of the Year in 1990. He maintains a private medical practice in Wilton, Connecticut.

Kristin O'Connor is a chef, cooking show producer and nutritional consultant. After suffering from multiple health conditions that were unsuccessfully treated with traditional medicine, she sought alternative means of healing and changed her diet according to Dr. D'Adamo's protocol. In doing so, her perspective on food and cooking changed dramatically and inspired her to help others on their path to healthy living through good nutrition. She has developed shows for the Food Network and the Cooking Channel and acts as a consultant, helping families who have been placed on restrictive diets to adapt to their new dietary guidelines.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Helpful and Delicious February 16, 2012

I am fairly new to the entire concept of eating right for one's blood type, but I would be skeptical if anyone told me there existed a more perfect and applicable introduction for me and others like me. This book starts with basic concepts and education, takes us through how to start/ reset our palates and pantries, and then (as if all that weren't more than enough) throws in over a 100 delicious recipes on top of that! I've tried a bunch, and am looking forward to the rest. Really a thorough and extremely helpful book- one of a collection that I would recommend to anyone interested even in healthful eating in general.

3.0 out of 5 stars Recipes read deliciously but... March 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've been following the Blood type diet for over 3 years and my health has improved dramatically. When I first read in the
"Eat Right for Your Type" book I could have been a poster child for type O's who follow the typical American diet. Prior to starting the diet I lost half my thyroid to a tumor and suffered stomach lesions due to an overgrowth of H.B. Pylori bacteria. So, the diet has changed my life, BUT I am disappointed to see that the recipes make no reference to number of servings or calories per serving. For those of us living alone, who do follow portion control, that information would be very helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love this Book! February 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a gem of a book! I downloaded the type O version a little over a week ago and I've made several of the recipes and some recipes 2or 3 times. I love that everything so far has been simple and full of flavor. I'm a busy mom who feeds a family of type O's breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner, I was really in need of some inspiration.so far,my 8 year old sons favorite is the beef and bean chili and the herb bread pudding, my favs are the lime kale salad the spicy rosemary nuts and the turkey mole and my hubby says the banana ice cream is the best ice cream he's ever had. The tips are great too, very practical. I'm so thankful to you for putting your heart into this book, it really shows. Thank you Thank you!

The recipes I have tried thus far have been good but care is needed to determine the size of the results. There are no serving results or nutritional information provided for any recipe. Thus, a careful reading of the amount of the ingredients is required to determine if the recipe needs to be down-sized/upsized. Also, I have to restrict my salt intake so I have to really pay close attention to the ingredients to determine if a high sodium intake will result. Lastly, there is no idex by ingredient so if say you want to make a dish with beef, you have to go through entire recipe sections looking for that ingredient.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delicious September 6, 2012
By Candi
Format:Kindle Edition
I really, really like this cookbook. My husband is Type O and I am Type A and I didn't know how I was going to make dinners for us to eat together. I bought both cookbooks for Type O and Type A and was very pleased to find several recipes that with minor changes would be beneficial for both of us. My husband is not a fan of eating healthy/fancy so I was very pleased when he said he liked the fare. I have even received rave reviews from guests who didn't know they were "eating on a diet". Kristin O'Connor has written the best cookbooks, it's like having a gourmet chef help you eat right and lose weight all at the same time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Makes a lot of sense March 1, 2013

I read this book after hearing a lot of good things about it. I am a blood type O - I've always known I felt better on a high protein, low carb diet and this book confirmed that I am already eating the correct diet for me. It also helped me understand why some people feel better on a more vegetarian style diet. I wish this was required reading so perhaps the vegetarians I know would stop trying to push their way of eating on me!
