This book is largely broken down into sections on Word, Excel, Access, and Powerpoint. It is a very heavy book, but it is crammed full of screenshots showing how to use the various functions within each application. There is plenty here to aid the new or average user alike. The use of color shaded tips is especially useful. There are also smaller sections on using Win 7 and basic computer information.

I got this book for my wife to learn Office 2010. I worked through it with her and think this is a great reference for new, or new to 2010, office users. The examples and practice modules are well put together and it does a good job of progressing through the skills.

I purchased this book for an Intro to Computer class at Kent State University. Thus far and into the 6th chapter, it has been impossible to notice the massive amount of grammar and punctuation errors contained within the text. Also, in the Index Section I found 3 end of chapter parts that do not actually exist in the book. I bought the book new so either the pages are missing from the factory or they modified the text and forgot to update the index according. Overall, I could never recommend this book to anyone due to its lack of proper editing, other than that it is a good book, just needs some refinement.

This book I ordered was for a class and it was in excellent condition. I was a little annoyed with the class because we didn't even really use the book, but it was a great reference.

I had to purchase this text for a college course. I have taken Microsoft certification in Excel and Access prior to this course but this is a required course for my degree program. With that being said this book was very well laid out, the instructions were clear and concise. The images used for illustration purposes were very good. I was surprised by a few new things I did learn about Word which I had not previously received certification in. The book I ordered did not come with the working files, so if you get this book and it is not in conjunction with a class you will want to get an edition that comes with the working files because it might not make sense without them. Also this book is HUGE it is (I haven't actually measured it but I am not exaggerating) like 3 or 4 inches thick, the only other book I have in my collection that is as thick as this is an college complete Webster dictionary from the 1980s. This text is also spiral bound. The binding however worked in its favor for the size of this book.

They don't ever miss a step. They literally drag you though every little thing! This would be a great textbook for someone who has had absolutely NO experience with Microsoft office before. The directions are very clear and take you through everything that Microsoft has to offer. The best part of this book was learning how to use Microsoft word to cite my papers for me. Thats right it does it for me, not much work on my part! So I loved learning that! But otherwise this book might be a little dragging on and irritating for people who have some experience with the system.
