Book Description

May 2005
In our 20s we make the most significant and formative decisions of our entire lives. We decide what career to choose and whom to marry, how we will spend our money, where we will live, what type of people we will surround ourselves with, and generally what will be the guiding force(s) of our lives. Ironically, these choices are made at a time when the most wisdom is needed but the least is possessed.

As a 30-year-old Christian who has sought God¹s leading in making many of the above decisions, Colin Creel sets out to share both what he¹s learned as well as the advice of some older, wiser men and women who can look back with discernment of the life-molding decisions all twentysomethings face. By addressing such topics as romance, work, friendship, character development, and spiritual formation, Simplicity offers life-changing daily tidbits of wisdom for the searching Christian twentysomething.

More About the Author

Colin currently serves as Headmaster at Cornerstone Christian Academy in Atlanta. Originally from St. Louis, Colin graduated from John Burroughs School and then attended Wake Forest University where he earned a bachelor's degree in Business Management with a minor in Theater. After graduation, Colin worked as the assistant director of admissions for Wake Forest while pursuing a master's degree in Communications. For eleven years Colin served Wesleyan as a teacher, coach and administrator. As a teacher, Colin helped to develop curricula in the Bible department and Peer Leadership program. As a coach, he assisted state championship cross country teams, created the water polo program, and led the swim/dive program to the first state title in school history despite residing in the smallest classification. As an administrator, he walked alongside the junior boys for eleven years. In addition, he's been selected for summer fellowship opportunities through Columbia University (Klingenstein) and Vanderbilt University (Peabody School). Since having children Colin has not found quite as much time for writing as in the past, but hopes to return to writing more consistently in the future. 4.0 out of 5 stars Creel's book is choice!, May 2, 2005
This review is from: Perspectives: A Spiritual Life Guide for Twentysomethings (Paperback)
The short chapters have allowed me to easily digest the thought-provoking questions presented, and the questions at the end of each chapter allow the reader to make sure that he does not simply read, close the book, and forget as he goes on with his day. (I read a chapter each morning, so it gives me something upon which to reflect throughout the day.) "What Makes You Pound the Table?" was excellent; as a college student, I am often confronted with the question "What's your major?" which is always followed by "So, what are you going to do?" That chapter simply reiterated and reinforced to me the importance of following God's instructions for my life and to be ever mindful of the fact that I am here to please Him only. P.S. The free mag. subscription is super-cool as well.

I am a mother of 2 teenagers and a twenty year old. I find the Christian advice and wisdom given by the author to be such a support to me in guiding them. It will also be a fabulous read for each of them to study on their own or in a group Bible study. It touches on issues that everyone questions and deals with. They will especailly like the personal testimonies given in each chapter titled Seasoned Advice. The book could also be used as a monthly devotional, because there are 30 seperate questions addressed. Alot of research, study and I am sure prayer was invested into this book. It is a gem and any Bibically based, sound Christian book is a must today.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book, August 8, 2007

This book is great, I really love how Creel writes this book. It is both easy reading and deep reading at the same time. It is also very relevant to those in their twenties. I would however suggest it to those who are just enetering their 20's. I believe they would draw the most out of the material, but still a great read.

I would suggest reading a chapter a day, maybe as a devotional study. Each chapter has 3 (or so) pages of stories and giudance followed by advice from Christian leaders, and thought provoking questions, so that you can make your own determination on the material you read. This book is very good, buy it!
