4.0 out of 5 stars Creel's book is choice!
The short chapters have allowed me to easily digest the thought-provoking questions presented, and the questions at the end of each chapter allow the reader to make sure that he does not simply read, close the book, and forget as he goes on with his day. (I read a chapter each morning, so it gives me something upon which to reflect throughout the day.) "What Makes You...

2.0 out of 5 stars Really, REALLY?!
I read this for my Bible Study group for young adults. There were a few good chapters about the grey area of life and finding those who you are following, are at a steady pace with, and those who are following YOU. The book was terribly written and amateurish. His list of what he wanted in a future wife? I laughed SO HARD. I couldn't believe you all fell for his...

4.0 out of 5 stars Creel's book is choice!, May 2, 2005
This review is from: Perspectives: A Spiritual Life Guide for Twentysomethings (Paperback)
The short chapters have allowed me to easily digest the thought-provoking questions presented, and the questions at the end of each chapter allow the reader to make sure that he does not simply read, close the book, and forget as he goes on with his day. (I read a chapter each morning, so it gives me something upon which to reflect throughout the day.) "What Makes You Pound the Table?" was excellent; as a college student, I am often confronted with the question "What's your major?" which is always followed by "So, what are you going to do?" That chapter simply reiterated and reinforced to me the importance of following God's instructions for my life and to be ever mindful of the fact that I am here to please Him only. P.S. The free mag. subscription is super-cool as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perspectives, April 21, 2005

I am a mother of 2 teenagers and a twenty year old. I find the Christian advice and wisdom given by the author to be such a support to me in guiding them. It will also be a fabulous read for each of them to study on their own or in a group Bible study. It touches on issues that everyone questions and deals with. They will especailly like the personal testimonies given in each chapter titled Seasoned Advice. The book could also be used as a monthly devotional, because there are 30 seperate questions addressed. Alot of research, study and I am sure prayer was invested into this book. It is a gem and any Bibically based, sound Christian book is a must today.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book, August 8, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Perspectives: A Spiritual Life Guide for Twentysomethings (Paperback)
This book is great, I really love how Creel writes this book. It is both easy reading and deep reading at the same time. It is also very relevant to those in their twenties. I would however suggest it to those who are just enetering their 20's. I believe they would draw the most out of the material, but still a great read.

I would suggest reading a chapter a day, maybe as a devotional study. Each chapter has 3 (or so) pages of stories and giudance followed by advice from Christian leaders, and thought provoking questions, so that you can make your own determination on the material you read. This book is very good, buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fitting Title..., April 27, 2005
This review is from: Perspectives: A Spiritual Life Guide for Twentysomethings (Paperback)
Perspectives is a truly fitting title for this book, which has enhanced my views on the world, life and religion. The author provides a series of questions and advice that open new doors in the mind permiting new and refreshing perspectives to come through. His strength in the rhetorical strategy permits deep, self-reflection, and the "Seasoned Advice" he includes with each chapter continues with the theme of perspectives as a number of respected individuals share their views on specific situations. This book can truly be utilized to not only affect one's views--their perspectives--but through these new windows of understanding, a person's life experience and their future course of action. Colin Creel develops one's mind throughout "Perspectives" and imbues the reader with a new lens with which to enjoy and perceive the world . While the book exists as distinctly relevant to those in their 20's, it also provides insight to those both younger and older.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!, April 27, 2005
By
Annie (Winston-Salem, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Perspectives: A Spiritual Life Guide for Twentysomethings (Paperback)
In Perspectives, Colin Creel discusses pretty much all of the issues a twentysomething will face. Although I'm still a few months away from actually being a "twentysomething," I had already begun to think and worry about future relationships, romances, and career choices. Colin discusses these issues from a Christian perspective and gives tons of examples from his own life to back up his points. He includes lots of scripture references, too. As one of Colin's former students, I can see that he really poured his heart into this book, and his love for God is so evident. What makes this book so great is that his stories are so personal and so real. I read this book quickly because I loved it so much, but I will definetly read it again and take more time to think about the ways I can change my perspective on these important issues. This book is a treasure, and I'm so excited to tell my friends about it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Really, REALLY?!, February 24, 2010
This review is from: Perspectives: A Spiritual Life Guide for Twentysomethings (Paperback)
I read this for my Bible Study group for young adults. There were a few good chapters about the grey area of life and finding those who you are following, are at a steady pace with, and those who are following YOU. The book was terribly written and amateurish. His list of what he wanted in a future wife? I laughed SO HARD. I couldn't believe you all fell for his watered down babbling. Especially the start of the book with the letter of the daughter to her mother. I had read that about five times elsewhere. A bland start. A disappointing finish.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice concept for the 20-something, December 6, 2005
This review is from: Perspectives: A Spiritual Life Guide for Twentysomethings (Paperback)
There were times in this book that I read ah-ha moments, underlining them to share with the amazing 20-somethings in our lives, but there were also moments that I wished that the author had shared more in-depth.

What I do applaud is his honesty, his relevance, his personal journey. There are many things in this book that 20-somethings can take away and put into practice. The Points to Ponder are great questions for small cell settings or for interactive discussions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sound advice, May 15, 2005
This review is from: Perspectives: A Spiritual Life Guide for Twentysomethings (Paperback)
As a recent university graduate, I found myself facing many difficult decisions about my career, relationships, and God's will for my life. I turned to Creel's book for some seasoned wisdom and found just what I was looking for. Perspectives offers practical advice on just about every issue facing a twenty-something. If you're a twenty-something feeling overwhelmed by difficult decisions and are willing to listen to a different "perspective", I would strongly recommend this book.
