I've read a few dozen sales books over the last few decades. I am a dentist, so my "sales" will be different from the traditional sales presentations. This book presents many of the ideas contained in all of the other books and uses a page or two to cover each one. After reading over 100 pages, I found no lessons, just general stories from a salesman. You get wisdom like, "Biases and prejudices are like rust. They accumulate so gradually, that we may not even realize they're there, at least not until we have a personal or professional judgment go awry because of one." page 67. The book goes on for over 500 pages, I couldn't get through it. There are some typos, there is no index--the table of contents is in the back. Different.

If you are new to sales literature or just want to read one book to get the flavor, than this might be what you are looking for.

Reading the table of contents and outline of the book, one gets the sense that you really should not go out into the field without a mastery of the techniques presented.
The content however underdelivers on that promise, and one is left with the feeling that it could have been a great book, but it fell short.
The book also needs some serious editing. It is filled with typos, grammatical errors, and the stylistic flaws of an unedited author.
A book that could have been great, but wasn't.

I picked this book up once it hit my doorstep and could not put it down. This has to be the most comprehensive book I have ever read on persuasion and how to use the ideas. part of me wishes it was not printed, the reason: I have spent thousands of dollars buying cd's, dvd's and going to classes on persuasion to learn some of the aspects of persuasion taught in a twenty dollar book. This book could have easily been called the Encyclopedia of Persuasion. This book could be flat out evil if used in the wrong way or worth tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars id used in the right way.

You could spend years trying to find all of the techniques in this book and still not find them all. In a way your treasure hunt is over and easy enough to finish.
There are so many ideas in here you could try and master them all of pick from the headlines to find what will fit your situation he best.

The books first chapter is more motivation than persuasion but it sets you up for success so it is a good roadmap. The next chapters get better and the information is spread over just about any aspect of persuasion you could ever want to use.

I would buy 10 copies of this book if I thought it would help to learn and sharpen my persuasion skills but 1 will do.

The content is pretty good at times, ordinary at others.
However it is the typographical and spelling errors that distract.

Could do with a proof-reading

This is by far one of the best business books that I have read in the past few years. It's not just for salespeople either. The lessons are very thought provoking and will help the reader to use introspection to become more successful at life. It is the kind of book that you will mark up and keeping a journal to write down your own questions then applying the ideas in Persuasion Mastery to your life will change your life for the better.
