If you are an NLP enthusiast like me, no doubt you have read countless books both about the theory and practice of language patterns for both business and social use.

The book would be good if it cost 7$, its quick introduction pretty clear and short and practical so its good for people who don't have time to read thin theory books and still want learn about subject. 5.0 out of 5 stars "The Missing Link?", March 23, 2009
This review is from: Persuasion Skills Black Book: Practical NLP Language Patterns for Getting The Response You Want (Paperback)
If you are an NLP enthusiast like me, no doubt you have read countless books both about the theory and practice of language patterns for both business and social use.

There are some good ones out there of course, but even those left me with a lot of patterns but without much in the way of practical examples in order to drill them in to my neurology. After all,the way I see it, the whole point is that the patterns should become 2nd nature and appear naturally in your language.

In my opinion, this superb book has given us NLPers (and anyone else interested in persuasion) the "missing link".
In what I found to be a completely riveting style, Rintu not only provides numerous practical examples of the patterns, he actually uses those patterns in the course of teaching you those patterns! This provides instant drilling, plus automatic feedback that you have grasped the concepts when you realize you are picking up the patterns he has hidden in the book. I personally have found this invaluable in my mastery of the patterns.

As for the patterns themselves, the book is structured that new lessons are integrated with the old ones so you are mastering the whole skill-not isolated patterns- another benefit I have not found in other books.
In addition' I have found patterns described here that I have not seen in other NLP books. One of them is actually my most used pattern!
All in all this book is a winner and is an incredible addition,in my opinion, to anyones persuasion bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars Knowledge you need to persuade, December 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Persuasion Skills Black Book: Practical NLP Language Patterns for Getting The Response You Want (Paperback)
If you have any reason to persuade people this is a great book. The chapters are short, the information is precise and the book is layered so that you can start with the first lesson and then build upon the next.

While you read this book you will probably remember a few times that someone has persuade you with one or more of these skills.

This is not just a book to read but one to practice from. I have a study partner and have worked theough these sets, it has taken some time but they do work if you put the work into them.

Sometimes NLP books are written over the heads of people just getting into the field or for someone who just wants a better understanding. This book will help you put some persuasion under your belt.

If you are in sales this book should almost be a requirement.

There have been quite a few books that have come out on persuasion lately, some good some not so good. If you would like to gain a solid base anything by Kevin Hogan especially The Psychology of Persuasion and Covert Persuasion are a must read along with 2 books by Dave Lakhani Subliminal persuasion and the other Persuasion: the art of getting what you want.

I bought a lot of books when i ordered this one, and somehow missed that it is very very small book with not much inside and all reviews at the time were 5 stars. I just noticed it cost me 20$ so i felt cheated, and after reading some newer reviews decided that i must add my one star review also. Like i mentioned this kind of book should cost no more than 7$, then it could be 4 or 5 stars if we look at it what it is intended to do (its not serious NLP study book so i don't compare it to those, but it costs like one...). Also i fell that some initial reviews might have been fake and that really pissed me of... So here is my one star.

Not a good book. The subjects meander which creates a frustrating reading experience. The NLP techniques are basic. Look further for your intro book to NLP.

1.0 out of 5 stars Definitely not 5 star material, January 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Persuasion Skills Black Book: Practical NLP Language Patterns for Getting The Response You Want (Paperback)
I, like some other reviewers purchased this book based on it's 5 star reviews, but this book is definitely not worth 5 stars.

The book began well by describing a couple of NLP patterns and went in to great detail about how they could be used in real life. This, I thought was really well done because it is not so much the actual patterns that are important in their own right, but how they are used in different contexts. Rintu's coverage here really made it easy to understand how these patterns can be used. He then went on to describe supporting techniques such as pacing and leading, framing etc. His coverage of these techniques supports the use of these patterns, however it is really necessary to gain a deeper understanding of them from other authors. And to be fair, Rintu does state at the beginning that this book is not a complete course in persuasion techniques.

The style of the book I felt was more like an internet e-book put into print form due to Rintu using comments and stories from subscribers to his web site throughout the book, and also encouraging readers to visit his site. In this respect it seemed like a vehicle to self promotion. The language, grammar and spelling is also not up to scratch and it is quite poorly edited.

Except for the first couple of chapters where it looked like Rintu was really displaying a unique style of communicating how to use NLP patterns the rest of the book was downhill and very repetitious and I felt like I had not gained any further knowledge than from the opening chapters by the time I had reached the end. In fact the final section from page 138 on really did look just like filler.

Who is this book suitable for? Well, it would make a good primer for someone who has not done extensive study into persuasion techniques and wants to understand if it would be a subject they could be interested in. If you are looking beyond that then there is much better material out there.

2.0 out of 5 stars Much better resources are available, October 22, 2010

This review is from: Persuasion Skills Black Book: Practical NLP Language Patterns for Getting The Response You Want (Paperback)
The actual content was very limited, and certainly nothing you couldn't find online for free. The patterns are used frequently in the text, so if you learn best by example, this might be a good book for you. If you want a technical explanation of how a pattern works, or even just a straight forward explanation followed by practical examples, a different book will probably suit you better.

I was disappointed, but that's probably because I was a expecting something more firmly rooted in science, not just a self-help book.

I don't really like leaving negative reviews, but in this case I feel like it's my duty to warn you. I was fooled by all the high ratings this book had. I hope the same doesn't happen to you.

This book was not written by someone with a firm mastery of the English language. When you add to that how he tries to use an NLP technique in the text where he's explaining that same technique to you, it makes this book a complete pain to read. (It's a somewhat novel idea, but it's not at all a well executed one.)

That's really all I have to say about this book. It's poorly written. A pain to read.

This review is from: Persuasion Skills Black Book: Practical NLP Language Patterns for Getting The Response You Want (Paperback)
I had very high expectations of this book, because it came with a recommendation from a friend...
But sadly, as soon as I started reading, I was suddenly reminded of the low intellect of my friend. To say I was disappointed would be a gross understatement. It's a remarkable puzzle, how this book was ever judged worthy of publishing. Are there no standards anymore? Every page turn was an insult to ones intelligence, as the next ten pages attempted desperately to over sell the reader into keep reading, with childish sideshow like banter and tantalizing, but ultimately empty promises. The author could have easily put the meat of this over chewed content into a 2 page PDF Report... I felt cheated... It's not worthy of its title "Persuasion Skills Black Book". However... if this book was intended to be a practical demonstration, of how to persuade the reader to keep turning the pages of shallow content, then it achieved a modicum of success. But ultimately it failed the value test.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's not always what you say, but how you say it that makes the difference, May 6, 2009
This review is from: Persuasion Skills Black Book: Practical NLP Language Patterns for Getting The Response You Want (Paperback)
I wonder if you know just how useful Rintu's book will be for you. I know you must have read a few testimonials by now, but the point is that his skills in persuasion are simply amazing. I sat there reading, enjoying what was going on and it's really interesting because you can really begin to notice how in just a few days you begin communicating even more effectively without even working that hard at it. Of course it takes a little practice, but there are easy to do exercises which take about 10 minutes a day which will have you up and running in no time at all.

Rintu has concisely put together the persuasion skills black book in such a way that anyone who wants to be an effective communicator or wants to develop their communication skills further will be able to easily. There are more than a few great reasons to get and read his book, his humorous writing style and keen insight into how persuasion works is a wonderful blend which has you wanting to read more. Whether it be at work or play, dating, running meetings more fluently or just having a bit of fun with words. You may even find yourself delightfully entertained thinking back at how easy it all is, with the persuasion skills black book.
I'd say this is a wonderful primer to "Sleight of Mouth" by Robert Dilts, and if like me, you want to be an exquisite communicator you'll want to learn from the best.

In the above review I've utilized some of the patterns in the persuasion skills black book. How many can you find... Happy reading :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Canned NLP Techniques, December 16, 2010
This review is from: Persuasion Skills Black Book: Practical NLP Language Patterns for Getting The Response You Want (Paperback)
I have read a few books regarding NLP techniques. Black book's approach is to provide you with some canned patterns and techniques in order to be able to "understand" how common NLP can be applied to real life situations.

Although I found the material quite interesting, I believe that it has to be a lot more to stand on its own. The issue is not the usefulness of the book for someone who is seeking for additional guidelines and examples on common NLP techniques, but that without a thorough understanding on how these patterns work, it could become quite useless.

I totally agree that it can be a quite usefull input for everybody and that means you need to research on NLP theory first before you add this book to your bookself.
