Bly's Public Speaking Book Impresses Veteran NSA Speaker,
By
This review is from: Persuasive Presentations for Business (Paperback)
I have been in front of audiences for close to thirty years,
either as a stand-up comic or motivational speaker for corporations. I thought I knew it all... that is, until I read Bly's book. Concise with real techniques (that were even new to me) now any business speaker has a powerful guide to call on that will enable them to captivate any business meeting audience. If you are in sales, want to dominate your market or exude expert status in your industry -- then this is a "must have" book for any serious business orator (me included.) Bly Strikes Again!,
By
This review is from: Persuasive Presentations for Business (Paperback)
Bob Bly's books have a remarkable consistency: they are uniformly use-able. Bob organizes his work in such a way that anyone and everyone should be able to learn from them. These are "rubber meets road" books at their best.
Bob's book on Presentations is no exception. He walks you through what works, what doesn't work, and he uses great examples along the way. I have several of Bob's books in my library and each of them is well-used, tabbed with post-its, and usually has a couple of 3x5 cards in them with notes. Add this book to you library today. Read it, Use it. Prosper from it.

Must-have - for your next presentation,
By Michael Brown (Media, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Persuasive Presentations for Business (Paperback)
I've been involved with thousands of presentations - and found useful advice in this book...
Whether you're looking for tips on planning, writing or delivering your next presentation, Bob's action-oriented style delivers on it's core promise "Give Presentations That Pay-Off" Throughout this easy-to-read book, you'll find specific examples of how to make your next presentation - your best!!! I was personally inspired by the guidance in "Seven Tips for Better Speeches", "Stories to Get Your Point Across" and "Engaging Your Audience" Bottom line - I have not read a better book on this topic.

Professional quality presentations are important to establish your credibility in every field, but so many presentations miss the mark.
There are several keys issues to improving your presentations and if you think you know them all, then you definitely need this book. Yes, I mean it. There are only a handful of speakers of heard that really give a great presentation. Here are a couple of hints from the book: Know Your Audience Write a Compeling Title and Description for your Talk Use an Odd Number of Speech Points The Three Parts of Your Speech Trying to squeeze to much into your lecture and rambling are two terrible offenses. Artists are the worst at this....rambling on and on, without a clear objective. Telling your audience what your going to say and then telling them in a new refreshing manner will help your audience remember what you said. Even if you can learn to avoid the most common mistakes, your lecture will improve immensely! Buy this book! Harriete Estel Berman [...]

Great transaction.
As a textbook it's terrible. This book is for people who are entering the field of paid public speaking. Lots of redundancy. Very little variety and versatility.

This book is full of tips, ideas and resources that removes a lot of worry and thinking in preparing for that special presentation. It is really a text book on presentations covering A to Z so is pretty dry and could be enhanced by more stories to illustrate the ideas being presented.
None the less the content is comprehensive and would provide a valuable resource to anyone struggling putting a presentation together. Alistair Gray Founder Creating Succesful People

Persuasive and Clear,

This review is from: Persuasive Presentations for Business (Paperback)
Bob Bly comes up trumps again. He writes in such a clear and compelling way, you find yourself taking information in quickly while enjoying the learning experience.
The book is well laid out and will help trainers, business people and people who are imparting information to a variety of audiences. Readers will also learn how to build their profile as a speaker, or as a the default presenter to turn to, for all manner of organisations. He makes the point that it is the content of your presentation that people remember and that today it is substance that is required over style. A good read and a great book to dip in and out of to remind, and inspire and to edit yourself and make sure you stick to the point. Jeremy Blake - Reality Training

A Real Time Saver,

It took me years to learn what Bob Bly has written in 250 pages. It's an excellent resource and I highly recommend it to anyone with a need, or desire to stand and deliver. Great for students and outstanding for experts seeking to refine their presentations. There really is something here for everyone. Definitely add it to your reference library.

Another Bly Masterpiece,
By Clarke Echols "Master writer and web site eff... (Loveland, CO USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Persuasive Presentations for Business (Paperback)
I've given hundreds of presentations and have spoken in public for years, so I have no apprehensions about standing in front of an audience. I'm always looking for resources to help improve my skills, and Bob has hit this one out of the park -- especially for those who are just starting out, or corporate engineers/technocrats who don't like speaking. Many of the topics Bob covers aren't unknown to seasoned speakers, but for the less seasoned, it is full of good ideas and very good advice. In my first 30 minutes going through the book as soon as it arrived, I found several useful ideas. And given the price, it's well worth the investment. Definitely another Bly masterpiece. Practical for the less initiated yet still worth the read for the more experienced in the audience. Clarke Echols Master Writer and web-site effectiveness consultant

A complete reference for professional presentations actually for public speaking...
That's why I gave it a 3 star I thought I'd find HOW TO PERSUADE know how using skills or something ,but unfortunately I couldn't find that - I suggest removing the word "PERSUASIVE" from the book title I read many books about how to present in a professional way so I didn't get a lot from this book - it focuses mainly on speeches I liked mostly 1. CHAPTER 6 (Involvement & Interactivity) 2. CHAPTER 9 (Audience Management) 3. Appendix |
