On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Centro Studi e Ricerche Ligabue of Venice, archaeologist and ethnographer Mario Polia is the head of a research program in Peru on native traditions. He is also curator of the Anthropology Museum of Leonessa in Rieti. Winner of the Paolo Toschi Award in 1999 for field research, he has lectured on Medical Anthropology at the Catholic University of Lima.

The book overall is good, with great photos.
However there are very few quality books to choose from on Peru, and this book could be updated with more current info and photos.

There are few nice travel picture books on Peru that show the entire country (not just Machu Picchu or another specific site). While not extensive, this book has great photos. I gave it to someone prior to a trip to Peru and she loved it!
