Peru - Ecuador Map by Nelles (Nelles Maps) (English, Spanish, French, Italian and German Edition)

I used two maps of Peru during our recent trip to Tumbes in the north, the Lima area, Cusco and Machu Picchu, and Puerto Maldonado in Amazonian Madre de Dios state. I found that I tend to prefer this map over the International Travel (IT) Maps's Peru possibly mostly for appearance but also for these reasons.

First the Nelles map has inset maps of better detail for areas such as the Sacred Valley region between Cusco and Machu Picchu as well as city maps and mountain trek maps that are not included in the IT map. The IT map is waterproof and that may be an advantage if your map may be exposed to the rain. I liked the Nelles map's depiction of relief by shading as compared to the IT map's color coded elevation which is better for showing altitude of regions but not as good for showing how mountainous the terrain is that you will travel in.

Finally although the IT map seems better at depicting the relative size of cities and towns the Nelles map seems cleaner and easier to read. Unfortunately neither map had the village that we stayed in on a trek to see Condors east of Lima. The IT map has better road detail with 5 levels of road conditions compared to the Nelles 4. The Nelles is easier to open to view with a more ergonomic size and position than the IT map.

the peru/ecuador map is full of useful information ,including archeological sites, beaches, major destinations it has major and very minor roads , so if you want to get away from the hustle of the cities it's not hard to do. I wish it was on a more durable paper , but hey for under $10 bucks, a great map for the price
