Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Today, our cats and dogs are considered family members and just as deserving of the best medical care available. Cutting-edge medicine IS available for your puppy or kitten, adult dog or cat, or geriatric pet--and loving them means providing for their wellness the best way we can. After all, that's what we do for our friends. *smile*

Your veterinarian is key to keeping your dog or cat healthy. But just as human cardiologists and surgeons offer specialized care, more than 20 veterinary specialties also offer help that goes beyond the basics. My goal has always been to empower you to make informed choices about your pet's physical and emotional needs. I believe it is vital that all pet lovers become aware of what treatments are available, and where to find them, by asking their veterinarian. Now, you can read this book for that information. My fondest wish is that "PET CARE IN THE NEW CENTURY" will help you learn about various options to help you make the best choices for your individual animal's circumstance. Then it's up to you to say "yes" or "no thanks" to a kidney transplant, paralysis cure, behavior help, or cancer treatments, for example--remembering always that there is no right or wrong answer.

When you make a decision from the heart that is based on the best information available to you at the time, it cannot be wrong.

Best wishes,

Amy D. Shojai

5.0 out of 5 stars Great reference, newest information February 4, 2002
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book is a must for any pet owner. I have an extensive collection of pet health books, and most of them do not contain the new, state-of-the-art medical and technological options that this one does. In addition to the newest information available, the book is inspiring for any pet owner facing illness, as various treatment options are easily explained in detail. It is also a terrific book to review before a veterinary visit so appropriate issues and questions can be addressed.

I often buy paper copies of reference books, rather than the kindle edition as I find them easier to browse through quickly. I am not sure whether this book contained a major binding mistake or the author simply used the popular topic of animals and their care to prosilatize her religious beliefs but the beginning of the book was about the bible and Catholic saints. Unfortunately there was nothing cutting edge in the rest of the book either. A waste of money!
