Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pet Guard Herbal Dog Collar (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I bought this product only because it advertised it as natural/herbal and not chemical. True indeed, but the oils they use can be just as harmful, if not worse. I bought this for my two puppies. One of them became sick overnight from an allergic reaction. I also did some research right after and learned that the main ingredient, Pennyroyal Oil, is toxic and can be fatal if ingested. It was also once used as an abortifacient, so I wouldn't recommend pregnant women being exposed to it. You may be wondering if this product works? I asked a veterinarian today if herbal collars work mentioning this brand in particular. He claimed that these collars do not work and are commercialized and a waste of money.
I tried to make a return through Amazon, but unfortunately it is not covered under the return policy. Please look elsewhere...you'll be glad you did. Other notes: I tried to find other reviews online regarding this product and didn't find too many. I did find two different pet websites with the exact same reviews. Looks like some employee from Petguard is making up reviews for the company to make it look good. Now that is pathetic. Update 10/23/09: After telling Amazon about my experience, they refunded my money in full! Thank you Amazon.

Effective and Very Well Tolerated,
By Likkel (Snohomish, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pet Guard Herbal Dog Collar (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I have struggled for years to find an effective flea treatment that didn't cause a toxic reaction (skin or in general) with my dogs and cat. Topical treatments worked, but often caused their coats to shed where applied and/or hot spots to appear in other areas. Oral medications were well tolerated, but very expensive and sometimes they have to be obtained from a vet (often requiring a vet check and thus an additional expense). The Pet Guard Natural Dog collars eliminated any fleas quickly and repelled ticks when we were in some heavily tick infested back country, as well an added benefit is their effectiveness seemed to last quite a bit longer than most toxic flea collars. I actually enjoy the scent and don't have to worry about any adverse side effects. I recommend these highly to friends and family...they're that good.Pet Guard Herbal Dog Collar (Pack of 6)Pet Guard Herbal Cat Collar (Pack of 6)
