Barbie, like many of us, is a pet lover. Here in the pastoral setting of her cardboard housing, blond Barbie, pony-tailed and casual, is accompanied by her beloved golden retriever. The best thing about this set is the encouragement on the package to do research on any pet before getting one; there are also reminders about the many abandoned and needy animals at local shelters. Barbie's dog, at the end of a blue ribbon leash, has a soft plastic head and a plush felt body--it looks and feels a little odd, but there's no mistaking her adoration for him.
