Pet Music: Just Chillin. Music for Pet Stress and Separation Anxiety

If the dogs aren't less stressed by this CD, than at least I am!! I put it on to play while I read the morning newspaper and LaLa and Tucker are soon back to sleep while I sip on my morning coffee brew and catch up on the news of the day. The best result of the purchase of this CD, however, has been in the behavior of Tucker who suffers separation anxiety in response to being left alone, even with LaLa on the homefront, while we simply run errands. Upon rturn, more often than not, could be found chewed up treasures of ours (Ipod, cell phone, Bluetooth, razor), destruction displayed on the front entry stairs for our immediate discovery as evidence of Tucker's displeasure over being left alone. But since enjoying this CD playing within each other's company, its playing in our absence has kept Tucker at peace it seems for no destruction of personal items has taken place since as before in our absence.

...and anyone or thing within earshot. Almost.

My audiologist recommended natural/instrumental music to ease the constant locust buzz of tinnitus in my head. I used that as a search criteria and found Just Chillin'. I especially appreciate that, according to Windows Media Player, the artist is "Purina Kitten Chow." Not a bad album, very likely the first natural / instrumental album composed by an American cat diet staple.

The first time I fired up the CD, Roscoe positioned himself directly between the two main speakers. I guess rottweilers appreciate good stereo separation. Within about thirty seconds Roscoe was unconscious. Gone. Buh bye.

Belle on the other hand was hopping up and down on her front feet with a crazed, "let's play ball" gonzo look in her eye. Sorry, but this CD set is not an automatic chiller for a neurotic five year old Chocolate Lab.

Nothing short of an IV filled with Demerol would slow Belle down. Seriously. This is one whacked lab.

Back to my tinnitus....hey, this works pretty well! Lots of water a sloshin, birds a chirpin mid to high frequency range kinda stuff that really helps me forget about the locusts in my head. I like it.

Every piece is different in construct yet hauntingly similar in some odd way. I can't put my finger on it, but I suspect that it has something to do with being composed by a nationally-known cat food.

Good job Purina Kitten Chow. I'd have given you a five if you could have slowed Belle down. Sorry...but I do like the cut of your jib.

This is nice music for my dog; it has captured his attention; we play it at home often. :)

I have a one and a half year old sheltie with separation anxiety issues. He is absolutely wild and nothing calms him down. I bought this cd without high expectations and couldn't belive the results. I put it on and watched as he started to really listen to it. Within minutes he jumped on the couch and calmly continued to listen....as I watched him, I actually saw his eyes starting to close and he was literally fighting to stay awake. This cd is very relaxing and anyone can put this on and become de-stressed. This was a great buy with over 2 hours of mystical sounding music with some nature sounds in the background. Definately a great cd for pets and humans alike!

So... I left for work early Wednesday morning, and really this is the only day i would need this CD, so i plugged it in about 10 mins before i left to let my Min Pin get used to hearing it. Which @ that time she seemed to not mind. She was currled up the the couch on a pillow under a blanket. I went to work, and as the CD says you can put it on repeat, and I did. I work 8 hours, so I'm thinking she will be @ easy all day long..

NOT....... When i came home the speaker's and the pictures that were next to them we're knocked down (were the music was coming from) the player, our directv box, and our VCR was pushed back, and when i walked in the door she jumped from the couch ran over to the player put her paw on it, ran back to the couch and her hears were slanted.... now..... I didn't have this music blasting either, it was a nice low tone, relaxing pace...

So there must be something in the mix that was driving her nuts b/c she hated it. Poor thing had to hear it for 8 hours. And don't get me wrong, the music sounds nice, but i have read on other pet music there are sounds that only the animals can hear, so im not sure if thats the case.

And i do know every animal is different, this just wasn't her cup of tea.
