Mom,

The dog is very cute, but that is about it. First, it calls for "D" batteries on the box as well as on the battery compartment; however, when you open up the case it holds only "AA" batteries. After inserting batteries he breathed once and then stopped. He still doesn't breathe regularly but will occassionally when my husband hits him in the correct spot. If my daughter didn't like the animal so much I would return it.

When the Amazon provider decided, after 10 days, that they didn't actually have this item in stock, I had to reorder it elsewhere. The item is very disappointing. The breathing motion is hardly noticable, and the "Snoozing sounds" are just the constant drone of the tiny motion motor. Yes, it's cute, but it's really nothing more than a plush knick-knack.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We recently purchased this dog as a gift for an older woman. She was absolutely thrilled. I mentioned the gift to a relative and she knew of several other older women who had received a similar puppy
with identical results. The puppy is very cute, but I wouldn't recommend it for a young child. It's hard, not cuddly. You can't do much with it, except look at it. It is still a good choice, as long as the buyer is aware that this dog isn't comparable to some of the very realistic, more expensive toy dogs.
