5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great!
Bought one of these due to the neighbors dog barking at me and my kids everytime we are in our backyard. My wife tried to make friends with the dog a few months ago and got bit. The dog is a female mutt about 5 years old and weighing about 50 lbs. After I received the unit I put in a battery and headed outside. Immediately the dog ran to the fence and started barking...

This product works but you need to be close to the dog. We use ours for barking control.

Immediately the dog ran to the fence and started barking and growling at me. I pointed the unit at the dog and pressed the button. The dog stopped barking turned it's head slightly to listen to the sound, and ran away with it's tail down! After doing this twice in a 2 day period the dog does not bark at us in the yard anymore! Anytime it sees me or my family it quietly goes back into their garage. We can finally enjoy our backyard without the constant barking noise! The noise is NOT audible to us at all. The other reviewers must have received a defective unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars My "mute button" for my dog!!!, May 13, 2009
By
This review is from: Pet Parade Dog Repeller and Training Aid (Misc.)
Before buying anything expensive and fancy to stop your dog or other dogs from barking, try this one first. I bought this product specifically for training/stopping my dog from barking. My dog pretty much barks at anything and everything. It was embarrassing and everybody is pretty much scared of my 14 pound mutt. Living in the city, it became a two person job to take our dog out to go potty; one as a lookout to check that nobody and nothing is around, and the other to hold the dog. We have tried a lot of things to stop him from barking. I was very skeptical at first since this product is sooo inexpensive and we've tried many things that were much more expensive that did not work. I figured, $10 bucks...what the heck. We tried it out the same day it came. As soon as he started barking we would say "quiet" and when he didn't(like usual), I pushed the button once and he stopped barking right away. I couldn't believe it! I did not hear another peep from him the whole time we were outside. I've had this product for about a month now and it still works. We now call it the "mute button". Now, the simple "quiet" command works most of the time to make him stop barking. We still bring it with us during walks and potty breaks for the times that he forgets or something around is too irresistible. When we do use it, we make sure that as soon as he stops barking he gets lots of praises and a treat for positive reinforcement.
I know that this might not work for all breeds but it worked for me! I sure hope that it works for you! For 10 bucks, it was well worth it!
The only con I have for this product is that the 9 volt battery(not included) does not fit well in its slot. You can't close the battery slot so I had to jerry-rig it by taping it shut. This doesn't bother me though as long as it works:)

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! Worked like a charm!, May 17, 2009

I was very hesitant and not at all convinced when purchasing this item.
One of our three-year-old Yorkie-poos started to bark obnoxiously for no reason non stop every evening. As my husband sat on the couch Tucker would jump at my husband and bark. We had no idea why! It drove us almost insane. All of the dogs needs were met - but he would seem to do this just for attention, and as the weeks went on it became unbearable.

We tried everything! So this little item was my last shot. I SWEAR I only used it once or twice for one evening, and said said "no bark" as I quickly pushed the button. Tuck immediately stopped barking and ran upstairs. The second night (and ever since) I only need to say "no bark" and he clearly gets it. This little thing was a life saver. My house is so much quieter! I still can't believe how quickly this thing worked!
LOVE IT and HIGHLY Recommend it!
C.

4.0 out of 5 stars It Works, June 10, 2007

This review is from: Pet Parade Dog Repeller and Training Aid (Misc.)
I purchased this product because in some of my study sites stray dogs form packs and it becomes difficult to work.

This dog repellant produces a sound that makes dogs uncomfortable so they dont hang around the sound as much. It really works well and now the dogs leave me alone.

It uses 9V alkaline battery to operate. There is only one concern that might turn into a future problem. The battery location is too narrow. I could hardly place the battery inside. When closed, the battery cap stays a little bumped so I am afraid it might get broken soon.

Still a good product for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works 4me, January 8, 2009
This review is from: Pet Parade Dog Repeller and Training Aid (Misc.)
The neighbor dogs always barked continuously when we went in our backyard, it definitely makes a difference, they'll either stop barking or run away & bark from the other side of their house. I don't think it'll stop a mad dog, but for 8 or 9 bucks it works good enough 4me :)

5.0 out of 5 stars It worked for me!, December 27, 2008

This product was long overdue for me. I wanted to buy something several months ago since our new neighbors moved in w/their boxer. The dog just does not stop barking once it starts and I was loosing my mind. My boyfriend was skeptical and told me not to buy anything - but he also wasn't willing to confront our new neighbors w/me either. I didn't want any trouble so I thought I would take matters into my own hands since it didn't seem the noise bothered anyone else including them. The night we came home and it arrived on our door step - we ran inside the house, put a 9v in and ran outside - the dog actually stopped barking! My bf even watched the dog from a peep hole and noticed it looked around for the sound. We had to do it a few times that night on different occasions when it would act up again but it's only been a few day's and so far we've only had to do it once and it stops barking immediately. The button did get stuck the first night we tried it, we thought it broke - but we just took it apart and fixed it - no biggy. We got two so it's all good. I hope it keeps working - so far so good! No complaints here! My bf did put it near his ear and said he did hear something and it hurt his ears - so don't try it on yourself! Our next door neighbor's dog has excellent ears as it hears us from inside the house - so we knew it would hear this. I definitely recommend it. I finally have so me peace and quiet. =)

This item works as advertised, I will add that the individuals who gave it bad reviews probably were not using it properly.
Dogs learn by positive and negative reinforcement. In my situation, A neighbor to the rear has two dogs, when she goes out she leaves the dogs in the back yard, like a lot of dogs who are used to being inside, they would bark non-stop when locked out of the house. Unfortunately, our bedroom and family room both are at the rear of the house, and we found this quite annoying as it would not only disturb us but wake our sleeping baby. After receiving the Dog Repeller, I went to the back yard, the dogs were out and as usual barking. I said "quite!" in a commanding voice, and at the same time activated the repeller. The dogs continued barking for a minute or so, I heard on dog shaking it's head, as I'm sure anyone with dogs has seen them do. When the barking stopped, I let off the button. I stayed out there for about 20 minutes, every time the dogs would bark, even the slightest bark, I would activate the device, as soon as the barking ceased, I would stop. Of course dogs are like people, some are more intelligent than others, and it took awhile for the younger dog to figure it out. But eventually the barking stopped. About 30 minutes later they started up again. I went outside, repeated the process, this time it only took about 5 minutes to achieve the desired result. SILENCE! There were a few more barking instances this first night, again, I would say "quite!" and press the button, the next time only took about a minute, the following only seconds.
then silence all night. Yes the dogs were learning. The following evening, the dogs were out again, barking again, I repeated the process, first time took about a minute, next time less, third time the charm, no more barking that night, following night, one barking incident, after that only random short barks, but the non stop barking has ceased. Don't expect instant results, but in 2 to 3 days you should have relative peace restored! I hope this helps you!

OH my gosh this really works. I had a nice quiet day today. That's a first in a long time. I have 4 wonderful Yorkies! Love them dearly, but they do like to bark. NOW... Bark, press, they tilt their heads, lower their heads/ears... quiet. Front door company, bark, press... quiet! Cat walks by, bark, press... quiet! Car doors open/close, no need to use... quiet. This is amazing! I am thrilled.
