5.0 out of 5 stars Pet Promise Weight and Aging, February 2, 2009

I used to be a breeder of Devon Rex cats and have used several brands of food over the past few years. Pet Promise Weight and Aging is very palatable and digestible. I love the small size of the kibble, very nice for cats to chew and digest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pet Promise Cat Food *AWESOME!!!, October 11, 2009

This is a Godsend food for my diabetic elderly cat!
I have tried MANY other EXPENSIVE cat foods to try to put weight on her and not make her feel bad.
She absolutely LOVES this cat food and she feels and acts so much better than I would have ever imagined!
Can't say enough good stuff about this product!
I will continue to get this food for her for as long as she is around to eat it!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's highly addictive!, August 28, 2009

Pet Promise Dry (Weight and Age) / B000VK4FJG

OK, it's not Slurm (obscure Futurama reference, sorry), but the motto still applies - this Pet Promise food is highly addictive! I was excited about trying Pet Promise because it hits all the right eco-hippie notes that I tend to be so concerned about - it's made in America, so it's patriotic AND locally-grown, it's high in protein and low in corn fillers, and it's made with good ingredients without added hormones, antibiotics, or 'flavors'. From their website:

---
* No animal byproducts, those secondary slaughterhouse products that are not generally consumed by humans - such as lungs, spleens, brains, blood, beaks, feet and feathers.

* No added growth hormones that make farm animals grow more quickly.

* No antibiotic-fed protein. Antibiotics are routinely used on factory farms where overcrowded conditions can promote disease in animals; our sources raise their livestock and poultry in a humane manner.

* No rendered meats such as beef, chicken, or byproduct meals. Rendering is a high-temperature process to separate protein and fat that uses slaughterhouse scrap, as well as animal tissue from dead, dying, diseased, or disabled animals.

* No factory-farm meat or poultry tells you we're committed to providing your pet with exceptional nutrition that comes from pure protein. Supporting rural farms by using locally and regionally raised animal protein sources helps keep our natural environment and our rural communities healthy and vibrant.

* No artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Such additives are unnecessary when a pet food delivers sound nutrition with great taste.
---

If that isn't enough to make an environmentalist excited, I don't know what is. I wasn't sure, however, if the cats would like it, especially since they've tasted the 'bad-for-you' stuff extensively and I wasn't sure if an adjustment to healthy food would be a huge shock.

Turns out I needn't have worried - both of my *very* picky cats took to Pet Promise immediately and ended up liking it so well that they stopped being very interested in their soft/wet food, which was a complete reversal of behavior for one of them - she had pretty much refused to eat her hard food and lived for her daily soft food feeding. The other cat, who has never really been interested by food now gets very upset when his bowl is empty - even if he's not eating at the moment, he just likes to know that there's Pet Promise in his bowl.

I will definitely be using Pet Promise from here on out. My only problem is that now I have to find a soft/wet food that *will* interest the cats, because our vet believes that they need the extra moisture in their diet. We tried the Pet Promise wet food, in the thought that if the dry food was addictive, then the wet food would be too, but they were totally uninterested and often leave the wet food untouched. So it's back to the pet store on that front, but I'm happy to know that the bulk of their diet is safe and healthy for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars As They Say, "Let By-Products Be Bygones!" My Cats Love It, June 4, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Checking to see if Pet Promise Aging Cat Dry Food is available to order again yet.

Sadly, it is not. It is a high quality USA cat food made from quality-fed, free-range chickens; minerals, vitamins, amino acids and ZER0 animal by-products. The stamp on their labels say, "Let By-products Be Bygones". My cats love it. They're all well into Senior age (over age 14) and the oldest started chasing his tail again after changing from a well-known brand some time ago. Fun.

I discovered this brand from Dr. Andrew Weil, the best combination M.D., Naturopath, Botanist, etc., I have read (since the 1970's). DrWeil dot com if you're curious.

"Pet Promise Cat, Healthy Weight & Aging, 14lb Bag" is where I wrote this review. This large bag was shipped via UPS, even though I used Super Saver Shipping each time, thus far (Thank You, Amazon). There was some powder at bottom of bags due to some jostling during shipment, yet not enough to warrant a complaint. In fact, mixing that small amount of powder with some very warm water was a welcome gravy treat to the cats.

Reasonable price relative to the local supermarket, which does not even carry the 14-lb. size.

We want to order again. Please stock more!

Great products. Tried a ton of different "higher end" cat foods like California Natural, Evo, and Wellness. Our girl took to this one so fast! She loves it, and not only that but her coat became much more shiny and she even lost a pound! Used to buy this from a Whole Foods but when we moved away I couldn't bring myself to get her anything else - so Amazon it is!

My two cats really enjoy this product. It is hard to obtain on a regular basis in my area, so I ordered it from Amazon. It arrived in good condition, within a few days after the order was placed. Cats can be very particular about food; mine prefer this brand over all the others. It has good ingredients in it (no mystery animal "parts," for example) and is made in the U.S., so I feel pretty comfortable feeding it to my kitties.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easily digested - solid stools!!, April 20, 2009

My cat 7 yr old adoptee was having horrific digestion problems on other foods -- even the Sensitive Stomach foods, grain-free foods, all the best, fanciest foods out there. No medical problems, just great sensitivity to food.

I tried a sample of this, and it worked like a dream. He finally has solid stools after 6 months. He likes the taste, but not so much that he eats too quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars petpromise cat food, April 18, 2009

My rescue Kitty is about 15. He has had a subtotal colonectomy and part of his hip joint removed due to an old breakage. He is arthritic and has asthma. The PetPromise healthy weight and aging dry food is so nutricious and good for him. He is on prednisone and is very overweight. These are his "treats" and he loves them. They don't add more to his weight and can still enjoy his little extras.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cat food, September 3, 2009
This review is from: Pet Promise Cat, Healthy Weight & Aging, 14lb Bag (Grocery)
I have been feeding Pet Promise to both of my cats, Alex who is 7 yrs. old and Sobie who is 5 yrs. old. They are both healthy and beautiful cats. They have been eating this food several years. I used to get my supply from PetCo and they no longer carry it, so now I order from Amazon and have promptly received it.
