This is a pretty good album, very early Elliot Goldenthal. It brings out the true horror that the Creed family faced in the film. I recommend this CD to anyone who enjoyed the film or is a film lover.

Well, just masterful and such a change from the average horror film score we were used to! Here we deal with a true "composer" in noble sense of the word, someone who truly knows who to write and not these composers who regard themselves as composers just by the simple fact of ownning a synthesizer and a Midi Home Studio... The rest of his scores are nothing short of remarkable, especially his latest one TITUS, truly a fantastic musical journey that enhances wonderfully the visionary reading made by its director Julie Taymor regarding Shakespeare's Play ( who happens to be Goldenthal's wife as well ). Nevertheless, PET SEMATARY is a superior horror film score!

Well who can tell a story better than Stephen King. Pet Sematary(Cemetery) is an extraordinary novel that deals with the fear of death as well as the unknown of what lies in the hills beyond; Beyond the Pet Sematary. It is said, by "King" himself, that this is perhaps the most personal story he's ever written and that he almost couldn't bring himself to even finish it. For reasons why shall remain forever kept within "King's" own mind. It was also the first time that "King" had ever published a novel with a screenplay to go along with it. It was only a matter of time before it took off into a wonderful motion picture.

The film follows the novel quite well and the acting itself is very believable. Elliot Goldenthal's entire score is wonderful. Most of the film's themes seem to fallow a soft sinister like waltz that captures the emotions perfectly. The main theme is a absolute treat that's accompanied by The Zarathustra Boys Chorus and has to be one of the best Themes ever to be written for a film based on a story by Stephen King.

I highly recommend this score to anyone that is or isn't a fan of composer Elliot Goldenthal. After you hear the the first song, it hooks you. It becomes part of you. It owns you just like the Pet Semetary owns you.

This is a wonderful score evil,and also very pretty.I saw the other people were mad the Ramones song is not on this Cd. You guys will have to buy the Ramones album Brain Drain from 1989 that is where you will find the Pet Sematary song plus my fave album from the eighties from them.....

Elliot's music for Pet Semetary is very eerie and moody
but works well. It kind of reminds me of a Bernard Hermann
score, the kind of music you listen to when driving home
on a rainy day. Pet Semetary is worth tracking down for.
Now whose seen the film? Who can watch the film without
flinching or averting their eyes? The film was scariest
picture I've seen in a long time, and Goldenthal's work fits
the movie like a glove.

pet sematary is one of my favorite horror movies and its mostly due to jerry goldsmiths eerie and downright scary score from the opening credits your introduced to some of the creepiest vocals you'll ever hear and as the movie progresses the score doesn't let up highly recommended if your a fan of the movie!

Good!... Goldenthal, it's your best score! I like this! The Children's voice in track One is very, very creepy, like the main title in the Amityville Horror's score. A great works! Mr. Goldenthal...

The main reason I purchased this was because of the Ramones song, "Pet Sematary", which I thought would be included on this soundtrack. Much to my disappointment, it wasn't. I think that if this CD is ever re-issued, this error should be corrected.

My opinion is that unless you absolutely HAVE to own everything connected to Stephen King, you can skip this one.

sans doute l'une des meilleure composition de goldenthal .l'une des plus inspiré. de veritables morceaux proprement horrifiques (dead recollection)(rachel against time),le main title est purement inquiétant,avec ses chants d'enfants sensés symbolisés l'innocence de ce simetierreunpeuspécial,il ressucite les morts! mais aussi sa face maléfique,sardonique. en écoutant pet sematary,on croirait entendre le main title de goldsmith pour le film poltergeist aprés tout ces deux histoires ne sont pas si eloignées,une famille confrontées a des forces qui dépassent tout entendement.enfin pour les fans d'ambiances noir et glauque ne manquer pas d'écouter cet album qui dans un sens,j'en suis sur ,vous glacera le sang! .

This was a very promosing album, however it turned out to be quite awful. The main reason for this is the exclusion of the track "Pet Semetary" by the world's first punk group, The Ramones. The track was written especially for the film on a request from Stephen King himself. I was overall very dissapointed with this album. The instumentals were tedious and were poorly composed by Elliot Goldenthal. This is unfortunate as most of his other soundtrack work is quite remarkable. I would advise you only to buy this soundtrack if you are truly a hard-core Stephen King fan and you enjoy bad music.
