ZYMOX Otic is used in dogs and cats for the treatment of acute and chronic inflammation of the external ear caused by bacterial, viral and yeast infections. Treat once a day for 7 days for acute infection and once a day for 14 days for chronic infection. Do not use in conjunction with other topical ear medications or cleaners.

First, some background info: I'm a veterinary technician with 7 years' experience treating ear infections, both fungal and bacterial, so when my dog came home from the boarding kennel with a bad fungal infection in one ear, I figured I could take care of it easily. WRONG! I have tried to clear my dog's ear up for three years and that is NOT an exaggeration. I've tried every over-the-counter ear cleanser out there plus the drops prescribed by my vet. NOTHING worked. He's been scratching that ear for 3 years despite all efforts at flushing it, cleaning it twice a day and applying medicine faithfully. I finally decided he would just have to live the rest of his life with a chronic fungal infection in that ear. Then, I tried Zymox! I've been using it strictly according to the instructions. This is only the 4th day of treatment and there is absolutely NO odor coming from that ear anymore! It's still dirty, but that is part of the protocol with this product. You leave the ear dirty and only clean it AFTER the 7 or 14 day treatment. There is NO smell of yeast or fungus and the best part? He stopped scratching his ear after the FIRST day of treatment! This is the EASIEST and MOST effective treatment I've found yet for treating his ear. I'm hopeful that after another 7 or 10 days of this, he'll be cured. I will update this review when the treatment has ended. I HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone whose dog has an ear infection. One word of caution, though. It is VERY important to see your vet FIRST so he can make sure there is no rupture in your dog's ear drum or inner ear. If there is, you MUST NOT use this product or you can do serious damage.

For my yellow lab Zymox was our last hope for her constant chronic ear infections . We tried everything the vet had to offer and every three weeks the infection came back. We were spending a minimum of $450 each time I took her in for treatment. Antibiotics and steriods was her routine. Injections and then a few weeks of pills a couple times a day. I felt bad for her cause the pills tore up her system. Our next step was going to be surgery to change the shape of her ear canal that might or might not work. $1500 bucks! Then I tried zymox after doing research on the web. It was a miracle! The cost was only $17 including shipping & handling. Her ears cleared up within two weeks and have stayed clear as long as I don't get lazy and forget to do weekly treatments. She also has chronic skin problems and I have used the lotion with great success. Thirty dollars every few months for the zymox products is well worth it!

I got this for my cat. For nearly 10 years she's had dark, gunky stuff filling one ear, got it from another cat who had it chronically. The only thing that ever helped was a yeast infection medicine. But later vets wouldn't give me that insisting, instead, on ear mite treatments (though it wasn't mites) and other cleaners than stung yet never helped.

Recently my cat's ear had gotten red, hot, and inflamed. Sometimes she scratched so hard she bled. Read the reviews and manufacturers info and decided to try Zymox. In one day the redness was gone! Her ear was cool, no longer inflamed. Within four days the decade-long infection was completely cleared up!

The treatment seemed gentle to her. She hated the goop in her ear but it didn't seem to sting or hurt; no scratching. It made a mess of her fur as the brown goo got cleaned out, but well worth it.
