This is the one harness that does not chafe my dog's armpits- and I used to love it. However I bought a second ComfortFlex harness on April 30th (my dog outgrew the Medium one she had before) and after wearing the harness 5-6 times the stitching on one of the black straps (one of the ends of what makes up the handle I think) has completely given way- and separated from the purple part of the harness. This seems odd as it wasn't over-used or improperly worn as far as I can tell. I have a 65lb dog and she is wearing the size M/L as her girth is about 30 inches. I wrote to the company several times and never got a response!

UPDATE (and the reason I went from 2 stars to 4 stars):
I e-mailed the company again (after they read this review and asked me to try contacting them again as they had no record of my previous attempts) and got a response. They said:
"This looks very much like a stitching problem on that particular connection. Unfortunately, no manufacturing process is perfect and occasionally problems occur that are not evident to the naked eye and are not caught in the quality assurance section prior to release."
They very quickly sent me out a replacement harness and even included a box of treats (much to my dog's delight). So far- after a little over a month and several usages this harness does seem to be holding up better. I will update if anything else happens.

This harness has completely changed my walks and jogs with my 81 lb German Shepherd. She is afraid of skateboards and razor scooters and has pulled me so hard causing leash burns and drawing blood. :( So I searched at length for a sport harness to use while jogging. Before making my purchase, I watched a few video demonstrations on youtube and it really is that easy to put on, adjust and take off. (...)

This harness is so easy to put on and adjusts fairly quickly. I purchased the purple XL harness and a matching purple gripper leash from a different website, but it's so wonderful I had to leave a review here. I put the harness on her, adjusted the Velcro, adjusted the buckle and tossed a tennis ball in the back yard so she could adjust to wearing it before setting off on a jog. The handle/leash connection has really been invaluable when we've encountered children on skateboards and scooters on our walks/jogs. The strap across the chest seems to apply pressure in the right area that when I use the handle, she doesn't get the chance to pull like she normally would on a traditional collar. She's an 81 lb dog and I'm a petite woman (5'1) and this harness allows me to keep her under control and by my side. As other reviewers stated, it doesn't stop the dog from pulling but pressure is not on the trachea. For me, I keep her on a heel and when I feel her pulling ahead, a firm tug on the leash brings her right back to the heel position and if I spot a skateboarder, I grab the handle and keep her by my side. It's a truly amazing harness that has made the walks and jogs a complete joy again.
ComfortFlex Sport Harness gets 5 stars!

This harness is super easy to get on and seems very secure yet comfortable for my dog. The bonus is it looks great! All of my "dog friends" have admired how it looks and when I demonstrate how easy it is to put on they are even more impressed. A few have already purchased them as well.

Make sure you measure your dog as described in the sizing diagram before purchasing! The sizes may not be what you'd expect, don't be disappointed and hassled with returning an incorrect size, just follow the directions and you'll get the right size.

I purchased the purple Comfortflex harness for our little dog Bini. The harness is very well designed and well made: a simple release of velcro allows the harness to simply come off our dog, and a sturdy clip serves as backup. Designed to go across the front part of the chest, this one will NOT choke our pup the way our old harness used to do. It's a very attractive harness that proved to be a real hit at our dogpark, and as a bonus, it's made in the U.S. The harnesses are just a bit on the large end (the smallest size, their 'petit' fits our 6lbs-Maltese-toy-poodle nicely)and the staff at Pet PDC were great to help ensure a good fit. Kudos all the way around!

The size of the girth portion of this harness was right on, and it even has adjustments available. However the chest portion of this harness has no adjustment available and it was too big on my dog. I have a big lab with a big girth and a wide chest but the chest portion stuck straight out from him! I had to return it and it is too bad because I was really excited to find a harness that had padding on the area that went under his arms.

I have an oversized "throwback" Pomeranian who loves to run with me. Underneath all his fluff, he is a lanky, thin, athletic 15 lb. He loves to run with me, but his step in harness chafed his armpit area. Seeing the good reviews on this harness in regards to preventing chafing in active dogs, I decided to give it a try.

I ordered the XS based on the size chart... his girth measurement was in the middle of the range given. When it arrived, it was a little larger than I expected, and I had to adjust it to the smallest setting to fit him properly. It's possible the XXS may have been a better fit for him, but I decided to keep the XS and give it a try.

Security? No part of the harness has any stretch to it -- in the product image, the front part looks like it might be elastic, but it is actually a sturdy non-stretch fabric with reflective strips. The non-stretch factor makes it a very secure harness. And for double security and maximum adjustability, the girth closes by velcro followed by a buckle attachment over the top. I am sure that a determined dog could figure out a way to back out of it, especially if the fit is too loose, but no such attempt was made by my dog. He spooks easily when we are running, especially if we're near a road and a car comes up behind us. He bolts behind me and I have to pull him forward. He did this multiple times while we were running, and the harness stayed secure as I pulled him forward. I use a coupler to attach the harness to the collar as a safety measure so that if he does back out of the harness, he is still attached to the leash by his collar. I recommend this extra precaution for any dog who bolts when frightened, especially if he will be walked near a busy road. But in this case, the harness stayed put very well.

Chafing? The material is thicker than an average harness, but very slippery. The part that actually contacts the dog reminds me of the straps of a good quality back pack, made to comfortably slide against the skin. No sharp edges to scrape against his skin as his body moves. Additionally, the girth sits a couple inches behind his armpits, as opposed to his previous step-in harness that sat right against his armpits. We ran eight miles today, and I checked him carefully for chafing afterwards. No sign of chafing at all! He loves running so much, and I am so excited to have found a secure harness he can wear when he is on longer runs with me that doesn't cause him pain later.

Ease of use? To be honest, this harness is easier to put on than a step in harness! You just slide it over the dog's head like a collar, then fasten the girth with velcro followed by the buckle. Great choice for squirmy, excitable dogs who are hard to get into other types of harnesses. It's also easy to adjust for a perfect fit.

While not marketed as a no-pull harness, I think it also had a positive effect on his pulling. Nothing I have tried (including the Easy Walk harness) completely stops him from pulling when he's excited, but when wearing this harness today, he seemed to recognize when he was pulling and ease up more readily than usual.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this harness. It might be more expensive than the step-in harness at Walmart, but it is well worth the extra money if you're looking for something sturdy and comfortable for your active dog. And it seems like it is built to last. I look forward to many more runs with my pup and his ComfortFlex harness!

I would not order this for a small dogs again unless they refined the way they scaled this originally large harness down for smaller dogs as I suggest below.

The smaller sizes don't have the benefit of a dynamic attachment point due the to way they scaled down the product. The loops that makes the handle that the ring slides on has both ends attached within a half an inch of the top center of the harness (see picture) completely negating the moving attachment points benefits. This has the affect of making the hand loop more of a leash extension with a large heavy steel ring that smacks from side to side hitting the dog in the ribs when they shake.
They need to scale down the straps sizes and the steel ring and spread apart the attachment points of the handle part for the smaller sizes of this harness.

As for fit I measured my dog (an 8 month old shiba inu girl) and used the chart to pick the correct size so the loop behind the front legs fits but the front strap accost the chest sticks out even when adjusted as small as it can go. I would not dare leave the harness on the dog when I am not walking her even for a moment as that chest loop sticking out is just asking to get chewed. They need to provide the measurements of the font chest sizes as well so customer can check if it will fit there dog before ordering. For the X-Small size I measured front chest half loop at 12.25" to 14.5" (from where it attaches to to behind the leg loops, see picture.)

Delivery from Pet PDC via usps was quick and the packaging was good (sealed plastic bag in cardboard box) and the color matched the photos.

We have an elderly Bernese Mountain dog (with many health problems), who loves to 'investigate' when we walk. This harness allows us to correct her with a tug, and we feel it doesn't 'yank' her when we correct her course. The harness is very simple to get on, and little drama. Up until this harness we had been using a prong collar. Never again! When you first get the harness you slip it over the dogs head, making sure that the ring lies between the shoulder blades. Then just like a saddle, adjust the harness around the dogs girth until it is snug, but still comfortable for the dog to exercise in. Once the harness has a proper fit, you will never have to adjust it again (unless your dog has a health problem). The Velcro strap will ensure that everything keeps nice and snug if the dog pulls on the harness, so even if the buckle SHOULD slip (which mine never has), your dog will remain secure. Did I mention how soft the harness feels? The material feels like the same stuff that they use to make parachutes. It feels very soft, and very strong! We have the largest size, and it is much lighter then any harness that we have purchased for our much smaller girl.

The ease of getting this harness on makes it a wonderful purchase. I have a younger dog that I struggle to put into an EZHarness. No more! I am ordering her a new harness for Christmas, and my husband cheerfully agrees with me.

Bought this for our French Bulldog after meeting another Frenchie in our neighborhood wearing it. Frenchies are awkwardly shaped and poorly-fitting harnesses result in friction sores and hot spots. We've tried at least 10 different brands of harnesses in the last twelve months and while some have been good, nothing has been perfect. I think this harness is perfect. It fits securely, is soft and comfortable, doesn't impact range of motion, didn't lead to any friction sores or hot spots, and looks great! It also seems very well made, durable (based on seeing a 1-year old harness my neighbor's Frenchie was wearing), and super-easy to put on and take off. We love it so much we bought a second harness for our Australian Shepherd.

Sizing runs true to their chart although sizing is extremely flexible. As long as the dog's girth fits somewhere in the range on the chart, the harness will be quick and easy to fit. Because of the velcro fastening system it's also very easy to change the size if you put a sweater or jacket on your dog -- no need to have a second, larger harness for the winter. Overall a great product.
