This collar has saved a lot of anger in the middle of the night with our constantly barking Pyrenees. It does not hurt her, but it gives just enough of a buzz to remind her to shush until it comes off of her neck.

We have had to buy multiple collars because of our own forgetfulness, leaving it on her when we let the house dog out who proceeds to pull it off of her and use it as a chew toy.

Just make sure that it is tight enough to touch the skin through the fur and do not leave it on the dog for more than is absolutely necessary. I believe the instructions say no more than 12 or 14 hours at a time.

Our dog is now allowed to stay in the city limits without noise citations and we are able to get a good night of sleep without having to yell at her every 15 minutes. :-)

We are using this collar on a four year old rescue German Shepherd who was circling and barking relentlessly. With the collar on he is quiet and calm. He does not seem to mind the collar.

Great product. It works exactly as promised.

When the contact points are correctly aligned on the dog's neck, it works. Problem is that the collar tends to move around on our active lab mix. It is adjusted according to the instructions, but the point is, a young, active dog will run around and the SLIPPERY PLASTIC collar material just moves all over the place.

Despite the collar not being effective over 75% of the time (because it isn't centered on the vocal cords because it has slipped), our dog has learned not to bark so much. It has only been about 6 weeks and we don't leave this collar on the dog all that much; she is free of the bark collar whenever we are with her. When she is alone then most of the time she gets the dog collar on (depends on if the kids remember). The true test will be if a few months from now when we never put the collar on her any more she doesn't get "collar smart" and bark just when she doesn't have the collar.

I adopted a 12 year old Bassett Hound last year when his owners could no longer keep him. He is a living cartoon character who makes me laugh every day. Unfortunately, he barks at the neighbors when I am not home. He has access to the house, but prefers to stand by the fence and bark his hound dog bark. Thankfully, my other dog has not picked up this habit. I tried a citronella collar first, and it did not slow him down at all. I finally decided to try the shock collar and after some research, picked this model. It arrived promptly, I read the directions, and I put it to use. The plastic collar has a bit of a kink to it from the position it was in during shipping, and I cannot get the little box to stay in the proper position on the dog's neck. I have tried everything I can think of to get it to stay, but as soon as he shakes his head, it is over to the side again. The directions clearly state that the box needs to be positioned on the vocal chords, but it won't stay there! I have heard the dog bark repeatedly while wearing this collar.

The greatness of the PetSafe Big Dog Bark Control Collar was evident from the first night. My wife and I have a 12 year old Basset Hound that had developed the unbelievably annoying habit of initiating a mind numbing and sleep depriving barking program around 3-4 AM nightly. But that program has been CANCELED permanently thanks to the PetSafe Big Dog Bark Control Collar. It worked from the very first night. Most nights are completely silent and on the rare occasions that are not, the tranquility of the darkness is punctuated by a weak and harmless little truncated blip of a bark "bud" that never blooms thanks to the PSBDBCC. You would have to go to a car or a washer and dryer to find a product that has so positively impacted and enhanced our lives. Stay hard, PetSafe!!!!

I read the instructions and followed the directions but just like another customer said this collar slips all over my dogs neck. Even from him walking around it slides even if it is tight and if its to tight it will hurt him. So i have this produce but i dont use it since it doesnt stay in one place and becomes non effective. I would not reccomend it only works WHEN it stays in the middle of the neck which is about for five minutes.

I ordered two of these for our dogs after we got some complaints from neighbors about them barking. We live in a very rural area with lots of wildlife. Deer, turkey, ground hogs, etc. It had been an exceptional day since the guy across the street had built a fence for some horses and arranged to bring them in for the first time on the last day of hunting season. With four new horses about a hundred and fifty feet down the road and in line of sight, our two dogs decided they had to let those big old things know whose territory it was. Anyway, the dogs went crazy and barked all day and hence the complaints. I ordered these and put them on the dogs along with their invisible fence collars. It was like you threw a switch. A bark or two now and then and that's it. If someone comes into the yard they will bark a bit which is appropriate but they stop very quickly. These are highly recommended. Too bad they don't do a combo unit with invisible fence and bark control. By the way, on Amazon they were less than HALF the price of the cheaper model at a big box pet store.

I really didn't want to have to use a bark collar that involved shocking my dog. It seemed so inhumane. However, after trying all other options (including a spray collar), my 8 month old pup still wanted to bark when I left the house. I live in an apartment, so this was a huge issue. Finally, after reading enless reviews, I settled on this PetSafe collar. It worked! She no longer barks when I leave her. However, I'm afraid it hasn't really trained her not to bark when the collar is not on. She knows when she's wearing it.

The collar arrived ready to use with the battery already inserted. I've had it a few weeks and the battery is still working just fine.

My dog was able to get the on/off switch out of the housing the first time she wore the collar. Then she chewed it up. When I came home, she still had the collar on, but as I went to turn it off and remove it, I realized what she had done. Not sure if that's a commentary on the collar itself, or my dog's determination and intelligence. Sigh...

I bought this to keep my dobie quiet, I had a smaller one that worked pretty well but I needed something a bit stronger,I purchased this one a week ago and she hasnt stopped barking at all! I've done everything the instructions said to do, and called Pet Safe who told me to "trim the hair around her throat so the prongs could make better contact.. " She's a doberman,she doesnt have enough hair around her throat to matter. especially when the smaller bark collar work fairly well..This collar has a CHEAPIE plastic collar and an upside down buckle, so it is difficult to release it quickly, you will end up taking the whole thing apart just to get it loose. PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! I'M OUT $86.00 for something I cant use..Also, one of the first things the directions tell you to do id to "Trim/Cut" the plastic collar so it will fit your dog's neck.
