I purchased this toy after reading all the positive reviews. My 9 month old pitbull started chewing pieces off of her black kong and I needed something even stronger. Unfortunately, this football isn't it. She was able to chew off little pieces the first day I gave it to her. I am glad that only small pieces come off, but two weeks later, she has chewed through to where the treats are held in place. She does choose to chew on this over her new kong, so she definitely likes it. If your dog can take pieces out of the black kong, this toy isn't going to hold up either. If your dog can't get through the kong, I would definitely try this.

My Border Collie mix has chewed up two red Kongs, so it's difficult for me to find her a toy that she likes but can't destroy. This fits the bill perfectly on both counts. It's durable and she's always carrying it around with her -- I've taken to calling her Peyton Manning!

The only thing to be careful with is that it's very heavy -- a smaller dog might have trouble carrying it around (she's about 50 lbs.).

My 45-lb. dog didn't care much for this toy until I stuck a wolf-size Nylabone Edible (Nylabone Healthy Edibles Regular Size Beef Flavored Dog Bone Chew) in the opening. Suddenly, he gives it the attention previously reserved for rawhide. The football has a very strong grip, and it was difficult for me to wedge the treat all the way in there, but by the same token, the dog can't get it out easily. He bit off the treat until it was flush with the toy surface and has spent the past hour chomping on and licking the football. The second-rate biscuits I stuck in the toy at first didn't get this reaction, so it's got to be a really tasty treat. We have only had this toy for two days; will update if it turns out to be disappointing.

EDIT: Three and a half months later, the combination of Busy Buddy football + wolf-size Nylabone Durable (Durable Chew Original Flavor ' Wolf (5.25')) is my dog's favorite chew toy. The football provides a "handle" for him to grip with his paws while he gnaws on the end of the Nylabone. Previously, he didn't much like the Nylabone. The material of the football shows some wear & tear at the thin part between the two slots, but it doesn't look like it will break any time soon.

My over-sized Pomeranian, Tiger Kowalski, once gnawed a perfect, 4" hole in the middle of a flat wall in my house. He has demolished every kind of chew toy except those made out of the kind of rubber used in this ball (like that used in Kong products). He's now had this toy for over a year and has just finally managed to chew off a tiny piece of one of the pointy ends.

I used to stuff this ball with ordinary, small-sized Milk Bones, but ol' Tiger has been getting a bit chubby lately, so I don't do that very often any more. However, lack of a treat has not dampened his enthusiasm for his football in the least. He gnaws on it with impunity and will chase it for as long as anyone has ever been willing to throw it. It's without a doubt his very favorite toy-- and he is a spoiled little beast with too many toys. He loves it so much that I just bought him a spare for when he finally kills off the current one!

I have a 18 month old yellow lab that LOVES to chew! We have searched endlessly for toys that will last longer than a day and other than the kong toys this football holds up the best! It keeps him busy/entertained for long periods of time, especially when we put peanut butter in it. We've tried the purple color as well as the black and both hold up well, the black is the most durable though. If you have a dog that loves to chew this is the perfect toy for them!!

I've had this toy for a few weeks now, and my bullmastiff is still loving it. It's quite heavy and solid and I snuggle little treats in it to keep him occupied while I'm at work. I think the mfgr was expecting an entire doggie bone to go into the football, but there's no chance of that--the rubber is too hard. It stands up well to solid chewing.

My German Shepherd loves this. Had a couple of months & no damage yet. He carries it everywhere! Good size, might want to wear gloves when tossing it as it sure gets slimmy, but then, don't they all. Would buy again for sure! Jan. 24 2015 Update. Still like this a lot, however, I think it says floats. It does to some extent, but kind of below the surface, so not so great in the ocean, or fast moving water, as it is easy to lose track of. Kaos never fails though, so we haven't lost it, but I won't be using it in the ocean again. It is still in good shape & our 100 lb dog chews it daily!

4/28/2015 Update. My dog liked this purple one enough that I bought another for our beach house. However, they sent me a black one instead of the purple one I ordered. It is much harder, and since we like to pitch it to him, the black won't work for that as it is so hard I worry it may hurt his mouth. I would have returned the black one, but a family member opened it and gave it to the dog, so I can't return it. It still works for tossing, etc. but that wasn't what I wanted. I don't use them for treats. Purple is softer & much easier to see where it ends up. Great for pitching and catching on the run. Black one gets lost in the field & forest where we play. BUT I KAOS LOVES THE PURPLE ONE!
