Product Description

Does your dog bark too much? More important, does your neighbor's dog bark too much?

Now there is a solution to excessive barking - even if it's coming from someone else's dog! This decorative electronic birdhouse is really an Ultrasonic Bark Control Device to control nuisance barking!

Designed to look like a birdhouse, the PetSafe Ultrasonic Bark Control System can hang in a tree, on a fence post, or anywhere outside. When the Ultrasonic Bark Control Birdhouse detects excessive barking, the microphone picks up the barking and activates the unit. This results in a safe high pitch ultrasonic sound that is audible to dogs, but not to humans. The offending dog hears the sound and will stop barking. Since it is unpleasant to the dog, the dog learns to stop barking!

Designed specifically for outdoor use, this bark control device is durable and weatherproof. You can choose from 3 sensitivity levels (activated at 15, 30 or 50 feet) as well as a test level audible to humans. Requires 9 Volt Battery, (not included) with an average battery life of 2 months. The Ultrasonic Bark Control Birdhouse has a power indicator and can be set to 'Off' to conserve the battery when you're away.

Lifetime limited warranty on parts, one-year warranty on labor. Excessive barking can cause a real strain on your relationship. The Ultrasonic Outdoor Bark Control Birdhouse controls outdoor barking and no collar is needed! Safe and effective for all breeds and sizes of dogs.

Features:

* 9V Battery operation - (battery not included) * Lifetime Warranty * Owners Manual * Shipped insured * Brand new

I bought this to keep my 2 medium sized dogs from barking excessively. One of the dogs was barking so much that our neighbors we were complaining. It works great and I recommend it.

I've read several reviews before I purchased this product. Some were good and some were bad. I can't speak to other people's experience, but it seems like some reviews are influenced by expectations and how it is used. For example, people who buy this to get their neighbors dogs to stop barking may have different results than people who buy it for their own dogs. This is not a punitive device, more like a gentle reminder.
This doesn't totally control my dogs' barking, and I don't want it to. I think it is natural and good for dogs to bark from time to time, just not excessively or in the middle of the night. Here are some tips and ideas about the PetSafe Outdoor Bark Control Bird house.

I never set it past the first power setting.
I don't leave it on all the time, or every day. I don't want the dogs to get used to it.
I keep my dogs in at night and I try to encourage them to not bark with positive feedback.

Another thing that might be a reason that it works well for me is that I live in a house with a long, but narrow back yard. There are also some 2 story apartment buildings around the property which may reflect the sound back. I'm just guessing, but if you live in an area that doesn't have much echo, this device may not work for you.

So I bought this since I saw this as an non-confrontational way to address my new neighbors dogs from barking every time my family walked into the backyard. Unfortunately this item did not do anything but get the dogs to perk their ears up and continue to bark. I figured it might take some time for the them to learn their barking will spark the birdhouse to respond. So after a week or non-stop trials, I have to say the house failed. Now I have to find another way to address the dog's barking and or have a long talk with my new neighbors. I give it two stars since it did cause the dogs to look confused, but since they are those little yippee dogs that seem to bark at their own shadow, I have to think it will work on the intelligent dogs out there. PS - My English Bulldogs just looked at it when it went off then went right back to sleep.

My neighbors have three cute mini dachshunds that have, for years, felt compelled to bark like crazy whenever they see us in our yard. Never mind that they have been seeing us there nearly every day for YEARS, they still bark like things possessed at every sighting of us or our dog. This was driving slowly but surely nuts; I like to go outside in good weather, sit under my patio awning, and read or talk on the phone. If the dogs were outside, they would fall over each other in their mad rush to yap at me.

We set up this device 3 weeks ago. It really, really works.

Read the directions carefully and follow them to the letter. The first week saw about a 40% reduction in hysterical yapping. The second week about 60%. Now, as we start the 4th week, barking frenzies have been reduced to the occasional woofing that quickly stops.

Our dog ignores the yapping, and generally pretends that the three dogs on the other side of the fence do not exist. She gives them an incredulous glance, but that's it. She does not bark unless there is a raccoon or something in the yard at night. So, this device doesn't seem to affect her one way or the other.

I have it hanging against the wall of my house, "aimed" directly at the spot where the three yappers tend to congregate and have their thrice-daily, prolonged, hysterical fits of barking. Perhaps to these dogs, a person quietly reading on a chaise lounge resembles a serial killer trying to break in the back door. Or maybe they just to like to hear their voices as the yap at anything, including air, clouds, trees, and their own silly asses.

One way or the other, this contraption is well worth the price. Follow the directions, adjust the sensitivity, and wait.

This product worked from the very moment we put it on our deck. If I pick it up to replace battery or change it's position, my dog goes in the house. He doesn't even like to look at it! Next door neighbor has one too and her dog never barks any more.

This product did not deter our barking dogs at all! We have 3 dogs and this product did not work at all on any of them. We even tried it one dog at a time and still no effect at all. The dogs could be within a few feet away and they don't even act like this products is even there. I wouldn't waste your money!!

We recently rescued a Pug/Beagle mix who is VERY playful. She and our other dog (Chihuahua/Jack Russell) mix get along well except the Puggle wants to play ALL THE TIME! When the Chi-Russell gets tired, he hides in his dog house but the Pug will stand right outside and bark non-stop for 10 - 15 minutes trying to get the Chi-Russell to come play with her! This little dog has a VERY loud bark and I was concerned it was annoying the neighbors.

We tried several methods to discipline the little Puggle but she just wouldn't stop. One day I ran across this product by accident and decided it was worth trying. I ordered it and it arrived within a reasonable time. When it arrived I read the instructions, inserted a 9V battery into the device and placed it on top of the older dogs doghouse. I then waited inside to
see if anything happened.

Sure enough, the older dog climbed into his doghouse and the Puggle ran over and barked. She then stuck her head straight up and looked around with her cute little ears perked like 'WTH'?

She then barked again - same reaction, she stopped and looked around. After this went on for about three more barks she slinked away from the older dogs doghouse and then ran into a different part of the yard and played with her toys.

I was shocked! Was this a fluke?

Later that day, she began barking loudly on the porch. So I locked her in and retrieved the Bark Control Bird House and placed it on the porch. Sure enough, she stopped barking and settled down in her bed.

After a few days with this device, the dog has gotten to the point I can place the device near her and she will stop barking EVEN IF IT IS TURNED OFF! All she has to do is see it and she quits barking.

What surprises me is the older dog doesn't seem too affected, I think he may be deaf from the Puggle barking in his ears so much or he figures it is less of an annoyance than his 'sister'.
