5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Invention
My cat loves this pad. She is an older cat now and must have aches and pains just like I do. She is a typical cat that hates everything except Trader Joes Cat Tuna and this pad. Seattle is known for rainy damp weather. This pad helps my cat through the 9 months of cold winter dampness found in Seattle. Highly recommend this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars No Heat
I bought this pad for my dog to warm up on cold days. When I couldn't feel any heat coming off it outside, I brought it inside, plugged it in. It says it will heat up to 100 degrees. Well, after 2 hours, it wouldn't even warm up to register on a thermometer, so it must have been less than 80 degrees.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Hit with the Kitties., January 16, 2010

I bought this for my 2 middle-aged cats. I placed the pad on the platform of their scratching post. Since one of my cats only leaves the pad to eat and poop, I think the concensus is it works great.

Each side has a different temperature, and I first tried the lower temperature side. My cats didn't really go for it, so I turned it over and found they prefer the higher temperature. I can feel the heat coming off the thing, so I don't know what could be going on with those reviewers who say it doesn't warm up. Ours is nice and toasty all the time

The pad is inflexible, so do not expect to put it anywhere you would need it to bend. I leave it plugged in all the time--I don't see how you could possibly be expected to "unplug when not in use", as your pet is going to be the one who decides when to use it. Regardless, leaving it plugged in unattended has not been a problem for us. It has a nice removable cover, though there are no cleaning instructions with it so I'll have to take my chances tossing it into the wash on cold water, and see what happens.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cats love it!, January 5, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Our cats sleep in the basement at night (due to owner-head-jumping activities at all hours); In the winter they were not happy as the basement is the coolest part of the house.

I picked this up as an early Xmas present for the cats; as far as I can tell, they love it---they are always on it at night.

The device is a rigid plastic board with a cloth wrap and a metal encased electric power cord (it's clearly cat safe; it's probably dog-proof, too.) One side is warmer than the other (I used the warmer side up, with another blanket on top.)

This product would be perfect if the power cord were slightly longer and included a timer (which we added, seperately) to turn on and off automatically.

2.0 out of 5 stars not enough for really cold weather, December 4, 2008
This review is from: PetSafe Heated Pet Pad (Misc.)
we tried using this pad in a dog crate inside an unheated garage, on a day when it was about 15-20 F. Our healthy 70-lb Lab (used to being outside) was shivering when we got home. Might work better in a small or very enclosed space.

Pad is rigid and inflexible, so make sure you can get it into the kennel!

Don't ask me, ask my 3 Jack Russells. The girls are really nice and warm in the kennel now that it has turned colder. I have put it on a time so that it will be wawrm when we take them to the kennel in the morning. I like my electric blankey and they like theirs. It goes great with their heated water for the day.

Your dogs will love you for it.

Pad came in a plain brown box without any directions. Pad doesn't heat and now after spending good money my porch kitties are still very cold....not a happy customer.

5.0 out of 5 stars after several years use, still working great!, September 20, 2010

We've been blessed with wonderful pups and kittens, but our weather patterns are erratic. our long days at the office make this pet pad essential in many ways. always on with any other system would drive me nuts wondering how to pay for the use, but with this one, efficiency has truly been proven by the thermostatic design. we have two on the interior of the house, two large units at the back door for when the pups are out, and two in the barn for when the weather turns really nasty the the two old english sheepdogs take cover. we're going on 4 years use and each of the six remain in perfect order with no concerns for safety, durability or function.

oh, by the way, i also keep one of these at my feet under my office desk. i use the small, but it's perfect for me. i sneak the shoes off, and while my colleagues are getting up all the time to warm the toes, i just lean back and relax in the warmth. good, simple radiant heat.

3.0 out of 5 stars Harder than expected..., February 8, 2010

I was expecting a soft heated bed, similar to a heating pad, only larger. This bed is solid with a fleece covering. My dog prefers to sleep on her cold cushioned bed. I tried putting her cushioned bed on top of this heated bed, but it didn't heat through. I've tried covering it with blankets, but she still prefers the cold cushion. I'll keep trying to entice her! Other than that, it is nice and warm, just not real cozy.

1.0 out of 5 stars UNSAFE FOR PUPPIES!, February 7, 2010

I bought this product for a new puppy I'd gotten for Christmas. We are trying to kennel train her but she absolutely hates it. We were told to put a watch under her bed to represent a mother's heartbeat and a heating pad to represent a mother's body heat. At first I was hesitant about the heating pad b/c of the cord. But the box clearly stated it had a Double insulated chew-resistant cord with AC adapter. Well she didn't chew it at first b/c we kept a close eye on it, but in 2 months (after we had let our guard down) we had to throw it away b/c she had chewed right through the cord while it had been plugged in! Thankfully she wasn't hurt, but they shouldn't label anything chew resistant, when it clearly is not!!!
