Great tank, but...
on April 10, 2013
The tank is great. Because it is long, it looks like a 10 gallon. It fits perfectly on my nightstand. It is made of plastic, NOT Acrylic. I assumed it was until I read on someones review that it wasn't. It scratches VERY easily. Mine came in yesterday, and I went to put a piece of drift wood in it, the wood (Which was soft from years in another tank) scratched the tank. The light does have that blue tiny to it. I will most likely replace it. I have two small red jewels in the tank that are breeding and it's easier to remove the parents rather than the fry from this tank, rather than an 80 gallon tank. It really does look bigger in person.
The Bad: I hooked it up yesterday to get it all running before I put fish in it today. Set it up, went down stairs, came back a while later and there was water EVERYWHERE. All over my nightstand, the power strip, the carpet. The filter was leaking. It leaked from the part where the motor is. I have never ever had a filter leak on me before. I was quit pissed. about 2 gallons had leaked out. It's just not worth me returning the entire thing, paying for shipping ect for a small cheap filter. I just used a 30gal canister filter I had. Other than the filter leaking water everywhere, It is a good tank. The filter can easily be replaced, which I might have done anyways cause the filter is clear, and once it get's dirty, I don't want to see all the gunk inside. Who's bright idea was that?
