Product Description

Petco Hex Freshwater Aquarium - Compact Desktop Fish Tank and Small Fish Tank Accessories from petco.comAdd a unique shape and soothing ambiance to any room with the Petco Hex Freshwater Aquarium. This 2 gallon small fish tank is a great setup for both first time aquarists and veteran hobbyists alike. It utilizes a hexagon design to both save space and look interesting. The acrylic tank comes complete with a plastic hood with hinged feeding door, a quiet power filter, and a low voltage LED light pod. The spacey LED light pod design comes with three light settings. That way, you can enjoy your small fish tank and finned friends throughout the day.The Petco Hex Freshwater Aquarium is perfect as a desktop fish tank because of its geometric space-saving design. Whereas many fish tanks are shaped like long and narrow rectangles, the hexagon design makes great use of vertical space and takes up less than 1 square food to counter space. This makes it a great desktop fish tank for office desks, nightstands, dorm rooms, and other small spaces.Taking care of the Petco Hex Freshwater Aquarium is a breeze. This small fish tank is easy to clean with acrylic-specific tools and materials. The power filter uses cartridges that are easy to install and remove. Since this desktop fish tank has a capacity of just 2 gallons, you never have to worry about hauling around a huge amount of water during maintenance. All you have to add are decorations, water, and, of course, your newest finned friends! The 2 gallon capacity makes this tank ideal for small fish like guppies or Bettas which require few additional accessories, taking up still very little space. Once you have your whole tank put together, enjoy the serene, captivating motion of a beautiful aquarium complete with engaging freshwater fish.

I just bought this tank a week ago, and I and my Betta already love it. He is making his little bubble nest as we speak. I had to baffle the filter, but after I did that, it works great. The current output is too strong for the little tank, and would blow my betta all over the place. So i baffled it. The light is a great one, I like that it has two settings, bright LED white for the day, and a soft Blue glow for the night. The light also doesnt get too hot after keeping it on all day, nor does it heat the tank. I have both a Hex aquarium from Petco, as well as the Mini Bow 2.5 and I like the light from the Petco tank a lot better. The tank itself is Plastic, but it was very easy to assemble and I hope just as easy to clean. It is spacious enough for a fake plant, I am not sure if live plants would thrive, and also for a heater.
So definately two thumbs up, and I plan on buying at least one more of these tanks for yet another betta in the future.

The first fish I put in this were neon tetras. The filter was to strong for them, so when I woke up they were all dead. Then I put a betta in it and he kept sticking to the filter. It took off most of his tail and it grew in very oddly after that. I ended up taking the filter out overall.

I bought this in a Petco store, but it is the same item available here. Don't but this. Buy a glass tank. Chines plastic is horrible.
Its been a good little tank for the last two years but for the last 4 months or so, it leaked just a tiny bit. I remedied this by puting a plastic bag covered by a thick towel under the tank to collect any slow seeping moisture through the plastic. I figured this slow seepage was due to the hot summer climate and was just like the moisture on the outside of a can of Pop....however this morning when i woke up there was 3/4 of this tank's water all over my kitchen table and soaking into my wall and carpet. I pressume now that this slow leakage that turned into big leakage is due to the cheap manufacturing process of this Chines made tank. Do not buy!!! I must now go buy another tank and replant all my live plants and translant all my fish. I loved my micro tank, but now I hate it. Again, DO NOT BUY!

My fish love this tank and I love the LED lighting which has a blue and white light option. Now for the issues. I've had it for less than a year and the white LED is turning into a strobe light, blinking on and off so something is up with the wiring. The filter works great but I don't live anywhere near a petco so getting the right size filter is a huge pain. there is a size that walmart sells that is really close but you have to force it in and fight with it to get it out. otherwise it's a nice tank with a good view.

The filter makes the current way too strong for any small fish to live in here comfortably. And if you put anything bigger than a betta, you aren't really giving your fish enough space....so I don't understand what good this tank is. I bought mine from Petco directly and returned it
