5.0 out of 5 stars Great - Safe device
Well constructed. Easily detatchable and (and convenient)leash. Have not seen this in any other product. Just enough give to all dog some room and remain safe distance from the wheels and cars. Great way to give a dog more exercise, than just a walk, while on a leash. Consider walking the bicycle the first couple times to get the dog used to the feeling. Unsure how this...

3.0 out of 5 stars Best for very small dogs
This product is designed to clamp to your bike's seat post, but my 40 lb dog is able to pull hard enough to, repeatedly, both (a) turn the clamp around the seat post, and (b) turn the seat post within its housing. I've applied as much torque as I'm able to tighten everything down, but the product just isn't stable enough to consistently stand up to my fairly small dog.

Great way to give a dog more exercise, than just a walk, while on a leash. Consider walking the bicycle the first couple times to get the dog used to the feeling. Unsure how this would work out for long distances, but for our daily walk, it's going to work out nicely. Our dog is a 50 lb mix of lab/golden and ? - 11 months old and loves to run.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved My Wife, July 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

We have a very energetic dog. Walking her daily was just not enough. My wife decided to bike with her on a lease and chest harness (I strongly recommend a chest harness as opposed to an around-the-neck collar). After 2 endo's (this is when you exit your bike over the handle bars unexpectedly) and several bruised bones and ego, she said that was enough.

We did a lot of research and chose the dog walky. What a great purchase. My wife can now safely bike the dog. She can keep 2 hands on the brakes and not on the dogs lease. The dog cannot go in front of the bike which caused one of her endos. Most importantly, when the dog runs towards something unexpectedly, the tug is on the bike seat and back tire, not the front. The result of this is a slight tug, easily adjusted to without any great concern over crashing the bike.

One of the reasons we purchased this unit is because we can take the Dog Walky off the bike and use it as a walking lease. Great for trips to places you can't ride your bike. Also, because when you take the Dog Walky of your bike, the remaining attachment is very unobtrusive. It doesn't get in the way on normal biking or look unsightly.

This is a must for anyone who wants to bike their dog. We also purchased a second attachment so that the dog can be biked by me as well as her.

Made of high quality heavy duty materials, this clamp is handy to add to another bike in your home for an easy quick change of the WalkyDog wand attachment (from bike to bike). With a spare clamp you have no excuses for not exercising your dog!

So happy that I bought the "extra" attachment! It is so each to move the Walky Dog from my bike to my husband's bike. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality product that works great, August 13, 2011

Nice to have a clamp on each bike in the household. These WalkyDogs are a real conversation piece! At least once a week someone stops me to ask about it. Even had a neighbors repairman come by my house to ask questions about it, when he recognized the bike on the front porch. Both my dogs can run for miles at top speed. I just hang onto the handle bars, most of the time I am not even peddling. Do recommend a body harness. Only once had a spill and that was because a rabbit ran right in front of the bike - the dog was just as startled as I was. In the past even when I walked my dogs for five miles it wasn't enough activity for them and they are a medium sized collie and terrier. Until I got the WalkyDog I didn't full recognize the high energy level of my dogs. Nearly as much fun for me as for them.

My wife and I wanted this so we could switch the Walky Dog to either bike anytime. It works just as would be expected. We have an 85 pound male Doberman that loves his bike rides with this.
Note: I suggest going to the Walky Dog product page here on Amazon if you are looking for a review on the actual Walky Dog (which is a GREAT product!!!).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product--But Difficult to Tighten, April 19, 2011
This review is from: Petego Walky Dog Spare Jaw Bike Attachment (Misc.)
I previously tied my dog's leash to the handlebars, but there were problems.
1. Puppy had too much room to interfere with other walkers and bikers
2. Puppy kept wrapping himself around the bicycle.

This product solved both problems, plus reinforces "heel" position automatically.

Drawback. Cannot tighten enough to prevent dog from rotating attachment on seat post. Haven't tried attaching without the protective sleeve. This might solve the problem, but I'm worried about damaging seat post.

4.0 out of 5 stars Walky Dog spare bike attachment, March 28, 2011

it's a good idea, but we've have problems getting it tight enough to keep the dog from turning the attachment on the seat post when he tries to stop and go around behind the bike so he can try to get to other dogs. It may work better if I remove the plastic sleeve that came with the attachment intended to give the clamp a better bite on the seat post, but I haven't had the time to try it yet. Over all, it's a good product and the dog loves the exercise.
