Peter Bardens is a hero to many from the 60s through into the 90s when he died prematurely and very sadly. This is the second solo album from him (if we exclude the recording of his early band Peter B's with Peter Green).

This album and its predecessor (The Answer) are really one long album, perfectly matched to play alongside each other with extended songs, solos of keyboard and guitar, and some varied (but excellent) tempos and singing in a post 60's psychedelic vein. If you are also a Peter Green fan, here is where you will find the sound that Peter Green was looking for in his post Fleetwood Mac "End of the Game" album. Don't be fooled by some narratives included in either of the Peter Bardens' albums (this one and the The Answer), Peter Green did play on both albums uncredited under an alias. You can clearly him him on both.

Peter Bardens came up with some great arrangements here that he worked out with more polish with Camel, which he formed shortly after this album's release. If you like Camel with Peter B, and you like Peter Green, you are in heaven.

This is Peter Bardens second solo lp issued in 1971, his follow up to "The Answer". The style is more of the blues rock/psychelic leanings of the day. The background vocals have a touch of R&B influence. His first solo effort, "The Answer" is stronger in my opinion but this is well worth it. It's great to finally see these two albums reissued. They were collectors pieces for the longest time. Esoteric has done a wonderful job with the mastering and the booklet.

Upon the release of this album he was soon to join Camel and the rest is history as they say. If you're a Camel fan, this would be a worthy purchase, for you get to hear the musical styles that he would bring to Camel. Heavy on the organ, with the exception being the opening track which sounds like a ragtime piano. Almost sounds like Procol Harum in spots. You get he picture. Good stuff. RIP Peter.
