A soundtrack to the seventies.,
By Anthony Accordino (Massapequa Park, New York United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Peter Frampton - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Peter Frampton is just one of many talented musicians of the seventies who's popularity decreased during the big 80's thanks to MTV who saturated the record buying public with Devo like computerized techno-schlock! The art of true musicianship was temporarily lost during that era. This greatest hits collection profiles a fantastic guitarist singer songwriter who reached the peak of rock n roll stardom with "Frampton Comes Alive". Listen to his guitar work on his cover of Stevie Wonder's "Signed Sealed Delivered" which brings one back to the days when one played air guitar to their favorite tunes. My daughter may listen to the "Backstreet Boys", but she also listens to "Peter Frampton". Good music lives on in any era. Buy this cd if you appreciate a fantastic performer.

An OK collection, but there's a better option,

This is a reasonable collection of some of Peter Frampton's best known singles and album tracks, but it inevitably gives only very superficial coverage of his long career. It would be OK for anyone who wants only a few examples of his work, but for those seeking a more comprehensive compilation, or indeed just better value, the double CD 'Shine on' is a far better choice. With a total of 30 tracks, including the full contents of 'Greatest hits', together with detailed notes and some interesting archive photos, 'Shine on' is the best Frampton collection currently available and costs only a small amount more than 'Greatest hits'. So do yourself a favor and buy it now. (Then when you've allowed that to rekindle your appreciation for Frampton, you can treat yourself to his early solo albums, which have now been remastered for CD.)

This is my first and only Peter Frampton CD. And I love it. I therefore don't have his live album and so the inclusion of several of his live tracks is much appreciated. They're great; pretty much every track here is very good. If you haven't heard much of Frampton make this your first call.

...if you're a singles collector. I Can't Stand It No More and I'm In You make this a complete CD. The remastering sounds great, and you get the LP versions, not edits, of Do You Feel Like We Do and Show Me The Way.

Doesn't everybody in the world already have "Frampton Comes Alive" ? I do,so why do they have to use the live versions of his songs on the greatest hits packages ? Tracks 1,6 & 14 are from the live album. His Frampton's Camel record had a nice tight rockin' version of "Do You Feel Like We Do" and the other two are from his 1975 self-titled record. On this greatest hits cd they are live. Enough already! Please just re-release all of his original albums.

Peter Frampton's Best Songs,
By A Customer
This review is from: Peter Frampton - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
GREATEST HITS does an excellent job of summing up Peter Frampton's career in the 70s. It is more concise and manageable than the double-disc SHINE ON set, and more comprehensive than THE VERY BEST OF PETER FRAMPTON. To start your Peter Frampton collection, get this one, FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE, and THE VERY BEST OF PETER FRAMPTON- all at once.

Peter Frampton Greatest Hits,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

The songs brought back memories of the 70s. I had recently seen Peter in concert and that is why I bought the greatest hits. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase.

i first heard "show me the way" when i was in high school. i rediscovered classic rock during my last two years in the navy when i was stationed in groton, ct. i discovered a classic rock radio station 103.7 wrx in providence, rhode island. one day i was listening to the radio, and there it was playing. it brought me out my blue funk. yesterday, i was watching "behind the music" on VH1, they had the story on peter frampton. it was amazing. if you only get one cd on peter frampton, just get for "show me the way."
