Sherree Funk loves to share Bible characters with today's teens. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Geology and a Certificate in Christian Studies from Asbury Seminary. Her writing style is casual and current, factual and funny, engaging for both teens and adults. She leads studies on facebook from time to time, including participants from all over the world, sharing insights gained from a close study of the Bible. Sherree has lived in many parts of the US, and has led study groups in many different churches. She has been a Children's Director for a local Community Bible Study class, and a Sunday School teacher for children, teens, adults, and senior adults. Peter: Rock Star from Galilee is an eight week Bible study that encourages you to search song lyrics for truths relating to each stage of Peter's journey and then find ways to apply those truths to your life. Each week offers a playlist of several suggested songs with the band/person who performed the song. It gives you a brief preview to the week and then each day of the week includes reading material and questions to answer. Scattered through the week are special things to think about called *Chew on this* that gives you something else to think about that's discussed during the week.
This is a fantastic Bible study to have to a teenage boy. It's written in a manner that appeals to them with stories about music and fishing that my son could easily relate to. The music selections are varied and include both modern Christian rock songs and traditional hymns. He really enjoyed the fact that there was music geared toward his age group that was Christian in nature. There was just enough lesson to keep him interested without being too much that would start to bore him. This is a great way to encourage a teen to spend more time in the Word and not have him feel like it's a chore and he really loved the addition of the music.

I got a-hold of a copy and wanted to go through it myself before using it to lead a Bible study. Every morning I find myself surprised at how much a part of the scene I feel as I see Jesus in his hunger, weariness and passion for the people around Him; as well as His amusing friendship with the disciples. I'm learning to accept His grace more as I find another passionate, yet bumbling partner-in-crime in Peter. The author explains just enough of the history and backdrop to unveil the why of what they did in those times; while still leaving the Holy Spirit room to speak to you personally through the daily story. The practical application challenges are doable, yet push me firmly out of my comfort zone. Song choices are incredible and add a new element of reflection. Look forward to seeing what Peter and I get ourselves into in the morning serving this crazy-wonderful Savior!
