Simply outstanding! Nero swings with the best of them., December 4, 1998

This review is from: Peter Nero Plays the Music of Duke Ellington (Audio CD)
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have complete mastery and control over an instrument? Peter Nero isn't wondering because he's there. This album is the perfect vehicle for him to show off his chops as a jazz pianist and he proves that he can swing with the best of them. I've played this album for friends and colleagues for the past 10 years and they are always blown away....then they buy it for themselves.
The intro to "Satin Doll" is especially impressive. You'll wonder whether or not he's somehow added notes to the piano. But, don't stop there because "Take the 'A' Train" is the best! It's fast, it's moving, he's all over the place. How does he do that? Who knows, but I know this much...this one is a must have!

A Genius at the Keyboard, September 23, 2010

Peter Nero Plays the Music of Duke Ellington
Wow! The way this wonderfully talented gentleman plays the piano is absolutely astounding. The timeless hits on this CD are: I'm Beginning to See the Light, I Got It Bad and That Ain't Good, Satin Doll, Take the "A" Train, I Let a Song Go Out of My Heart, and Don't Get Around Much Any More.
Joining Peter Nero on this CD are Richard Nanista - bass, and Andy Zoob - drums. This marvelous trio entertains and amazes with musical gifts that few possess. And to say that Mr. Nero is a genius at the keyboard is not an exaggeration.
If you're lucky enough to get Peter Nero Plays the Music of Duke Ellington for your audio recording collection, you'll be just as thrilled as I am.
