Amazing Pictures,

I consider this more of a picture book than a story book. It tells the story in a bland, watered-down sort of way that's honestly not so great, but the pictures are fantastic. If you want to read Peter Pan's tale, I recommend the original J.M. Barrie story. I give this book 4 stars for the absolutely amazing photographs. They are high quality, super clear, and tell the story themselves. Bottom line-- If you loved the movie, whether it was the visuals or Jason Isaacs or Jeremy Sumpter, you are going to really love this book. I actually scanned some of the photos and made some really nice framed pictures for (yes, I admit it!) myself and my little cousins who are currently in love with Jeremy Sumpter (Peter Pan). Another note, this book would be great for young children who are just learning to read. The original book might be a bit tiresome for real young children, but this one gets the story told in a way that's easy for them to read and understand.

Love the movie... not so fond of this book,
By Molly P. (Portland, Oregon USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Peter Pan: The Movie Storybook (Peter Pan) (Paperback)
The Peter Pan movie storybook was a nice idea, but it could have be done a little better, in my opinion. Basically, the book presents (in picture book form) the story of Peter Pan as presented in the 2003 film -- though not exactly. Some parts are glossed over, some are forgotten, some are slightly altered, and some are just plain confusing. I've seen the film several times and love it; I thought the book would be cool because I could kind of experience the film right in the comfort of my home. Well... let's just say the book doesn't give you that great feeling the film does. What's more, some of the photos in the book aren't photographs, but rather stills from the film itself -- which is great... except the quality on a few of them leaves much to be desired. For example, in one picture, it shows Wendy and her brother play-swordfighting. However, the speed at which the photo was taken (or the still they chose to use), was a little blurry and I guess the swords were moving so fast that, in the picture in the book, they're invisible. You can see the handles but not the "blades." It just looks bizarre. Even with that all said, I think this book would add something special to a child's picture book collection, and it is a decent piece of merchandise for Peter Pan fans' collections.
