5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME, February 27, 2004
This review is from: Peter Parker Spider-Man Volume 5: Senseless Violence TPB (Spider-Man, Peter Parker (Numbered)) (Paperback)
The story of Spider-Man and the Sandman meeting for the first time is a classic example of why I was an obsessive Spidey fan as a kid. What other Superhero would even dream of fighting a Supervillain with a Vacuum cleaner? I haven't read Comics in a long time until I got sucked back in after reading Straczynski's ASM: Coming Home. I've been catching up on stuff since then and came across Zeb Wells in Tangled Web 4 and I am impressed. Dude's taken a Sandman who's been literally washed up through the sewer onto the beach and woven some fancy stuff that really capture your interest for both the humor and the intelligence behind the plot. I loved all his work starting from the MTV spoof on tangled web 4, till this. The Plots remind me of Moore's Watchmen and Miller's DKR (Not close to that level yet, but...).
I don't really care as much for the artwork tho...I appreciate where they are coming from and some of the panels just blew me away, but it's just not my thing. Dont want to strain too hard to get the symbolic aspects of my Comic Books. All in all it was an awesome read and I highly recommend it. Really looking forward to more stuff from this guy.
