A great one for babies!,
By A Customer
This review is from: My Peter Rabbit Cloth Book (Potter) (Rag Book)
Our 6-month old son is absolutely fascinated by books and magazines. This cloth book is one that is nice and soft; we have no worries about him poking himself in the eye or tearing off pieces that he might choke on. The colors are bright and the pictures are of single objects, things he can easily focus on. It is also washable - a big plus for baby toys!

Not Good,

Don't waste your money on this one. It is not interesting at all. Very dull drawings. My eight month is not into this one at all. She likes to chew it and that is all. Buy something else...I definitely recommend "Squishy Turtle and Friends" cloth book--provides hours of entertainment for my little one.

Not only dull, but possibly dangerous,

As previous reviewers have mentioned, this book does not contain much substance. It consists of 8 pages. On each page there is simply one character or object from the story and the name of that character/object underneath it. The illustrations are nothing fancy, and considering the other high quality cloth books out there (like all of the Priddy books) it is not worth it.
To be fair, I do not know whether or not my child likes it because I will not let him near it. The book has a very strong odor of whatever chemical they used for the pictures. The book does not come with washing instructions, but since most cloth books are surface wash only, I do not want my child chewing on what could be a potentially dangerous chemical! Beware!

Sorry Peter Rabbit, but you are not the Peter Rabbit of my childhood. You have lost your language skills and can now only show pictures to try to tell your story. If I didn't already know the story I would not be able to tell my child what the pictures mean. I'm afraid that Beatrix Potter, your creator, would be most upset at this change. A full text would be better.

I was surprised to read the other negative reviews... This is a perfect book for young babies. The pictures are simple and bright. I appreciate that there aren't any gimics. There are different objects on each page. My daughter liked the pictures of the rabbits just as much as she liked the watering can and the lettuce. This was my baby's first real favorite book, so I give it 5 stars!

Relevance to Peter Rabbit? And bad chemicals.,

Peter Rabbit is on the cover and the first page. Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail appear on the next page. In the remainder of the book, there are no more bunnies...just lettuces, watering can, Mr. McGregor. There is no story, and the pictures, without context, seem useless.
I, like another reviewer, didn't like the chemicals; even the Priddy books smell bad to me, but the Peter Rabbit book was much worse. I ignored the surface-wash-only instructions and put all of our cloth books into the wash and air-dried them. That took care of the chemicals (extra cautious people could do this multiple times) and the books were unharmed.

My seven-month-old daughter didn't really care for this book because it didn't have much substance--too simple and ugly fabric colors. She likes the "Going to Sleep" book or "Dancing with Degas" or "Touch and Feel Animal Farm" better.
