If a play can be disturbing and enthrallling at the same time, then Equus may be an excellent example. On one level, the crime of the protagonist, Alan Strang, is unspeakable. If a play can be disturbing and enthrallling at the same time, then Equus may be an excellent example. On one level, the crime of the protagonist, Alan Strang, is unspeakable. How can one find any meaning in the blinding of six horses? The man who takes on the task of answering this question is Martin Dysart, the psychiatrist who, ironically, becomes envious of his patient. While Dr. Dysart is repelled by the brutality of Alan's crime, he finds that he yearns to feel Alan's unconventional passion and freedom. From this point on in the play, we travel down two roads. One takes us closer to the truth of Alan's inability to live in the Normal world while the other road takes us to a place where we see the terrible ordinariness of Dysart's Normal world. The most penetrating question of the play - what is Normal- is never answered. At the end, one puts the play down a bit shaken and yet a bit wiser for the experience. It is absolutely rivetting!

5.0 out of 5 stars Squirrel Stalker - I LOVE CLAY!!!, March 18, 2004

This book was so amazing at the end you are awestruck. You will sit there in silence unbeknowest mood- enthralled with the passages you have just consumed within your mental capacity. This piece of ART is one of the most shizziest and riviting love stories / psychological drama that I have ever put my hands on- I can't wait to touch it again.
