Bush Doctor,
By Philip E Mosher (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Peter Tosh Live at the Jamaican Music Fest 1982 (Audio CD)
Of all the live Tosh Cds this is my Favorite. The sound quality is excellent and Peter performance comes alive with the rising of the sun. THis Version of Bush Doctor is the most powerful I have heard and for that track alone it is worth the price. Some of this concert footage can be seen in the Steeping Razor the REd X tapes with Peter slashing a sword through the air while performing......I wish theywould release this concert on DVD since someone has this footage. Anyway, it is a stellar Live performance....Long Live Peter TOSH!!!

Wow Wow,

I just got mine today (3/20/04) and wow this was beyond words. Peter Tosh speaks the truth. Even if YOU dont belive he is, the way he delivers his speech is Fantastic, I would rather hear him speak than go to church and hear a preacher speak (boring!!) This CD is worth getting, although I personaly did not enjoy the instrumental track behind his speech, I still thought it was a little creative. So I recomend this Cd. Im just hoping they could release this concert IN ITS COMPLETE ENTIRTY (with no music backing his speech) on DVD.

What a Show!,

I was at this show in Montego Bay in 1982. It was one of the most compelling performances I have ever seen. Peter Tosh was claiming the Reggae throne, which he believed was his after the death of Bob. He waited through the early morning hours and did not perform until he came on with the rising sun, as the final act of this excellent three day concert. I missed my flight home becuase of his late perfomance and wound up staying on the island for a while. The audio quality is 1st rate and the performance is masterfull. Would love to see the full video released on DVD.

Powerful and Spellbinding,

This review is from: Peter Tosh Live at the Jamaican Music Fest 1982 (Audio CD)
Peter Tosh's performance at the Jamaica World Music Festival in the Fall of 1982 is one of his finest performances, perhaps even surpassing his legendary show on "Complete Captured Live" recorded a year later at the Greek Theater in L.A. during the "Mama Africa" tour. Each song is astounding, but the thick, strong, slower rendition of "Coming In Hot" and the the rendition of "Get Up, Stand Up" clearly stand above the rest.
Perhaps most memorable about this show, however, were Tosh's moving speaches to the crowd, showing his integrity, strength, religiosity, and Humanity unlike some regular preacher, speaking about ganja, reincarnation, injustice, his own strengths, and his place alongside the common, oppressed citizens of the World. Truly, Peter's way with words earned him a special place in the pages of musical, sociopolitical, and spiritual history. Both speeches contain an instrumental backing mixed in by Karl Pitterson before the album's release in 2002. In closing, this was a concert for the ages, and cannot afford to be missed by any Tosh fan, reggae fan, or well-rounded music fan. I can guarentee you will not be disappointed.

this cd is for every wailers fan as well as tosh enthusiast . 77 minute concert performance at sunrise in montego bay during the jamaican world music festival. Tosh is his irreverant self on two speeches that are mesmerizing. sly and robbie are not in the band in this performance so it is a bit different sound on some of the riffs but regulars keith sterling on keyboards and on drums is carlton santa davis.great sounding recording eventhough it is live. one of Jamaicas national heroes here for the last time in a live recording .
