When I got this cd I was very displeased that is was a nickolodian production. Then I listened to it, and I now stand by this recording as the best recording of these pieces available. I own quite a few. Just to name a few I consider this to be better than : James Levine/Orchestra of St. Lukes, The one with Patrick Stewart, the one the BBC orchestra did, and the one with David Bowie. This one is by far the best recording to date of these pieces

This is a must have in children's music. It is beautiful and amazing to hear the BSO play music that sounds like the circus in the "Carnival of the Animals" selections. And as an added bonus there is an explanation of an orchestra for young ones! I learned about this CD in my 1 year old's kindermusik class and have been searching for it ever since. Thanks Amazon.com!

I have a four year old, and I've heard this recording at least 50 times. The orchestra is great and Hart's narration is very well done. My son has danced this piece for us many times and I'll always think of it fondly. This "Peter and the Wolf" is a great way to keep away from the overproduced, low-quality, sticky sweet nonsense that's sold as music for small children.

Yay, Melissa Joan Hart! She does a great job in narrating this classic. Her voice is so pleasant, clear and soothing. The music can be dramatic and scary in parts for a younger child, but it's classical music and overall, we really enjoy the drama of the symphony. I pulled this out recently when my 4 year old had croup; for some reason, this CD had had a hiatus from the CD player for a few months. This was soothing and entertaining enough to take my child's mind off her illness and coughing and got us back on track to sleep. My older children have enjoyed this CD as well. Also great for car rides!

The music education is excellent and I'd recommend this version for a wide range of ages; it's not patronizing, childish or sappy - it's just the classic Peter and The Wolf. Recommended!
