I have always loved the Peter & the Wolf story and how the orchestra is used to create sounds specific to each character. Add Sting to it and I am in love! I used to own the Bernstein recording but misplaced it. I found this one and previewed it online and LOVED it. Sting is very theatrical and fun in this recording. I teach a class to elementary students about classical composers and they had become glassy-eyed with Mozart, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky. But THIS they LOVED! We played a game where the children made masks and had to stand up when their characters sound came about in the music. LOVE this recording!!! |
