I come at this show as someone who never watched Hell's Kitchen, but had some curiosity about Gordon Ramsay. And he's as complicated and engaging as I'd hoped, not the empty Brit-accent tyrant some consider him.

That said, the "characters" in this episode ring a little false, like they're performing in mob-flavored dinner theater. It doesn't mean I wasn't entertained ... but later episodes feel more real.

I started watching the BBC version and was hooked. I really like the American version. Its a little different in the way they speak to each other so polite like the previous review. I like the interaction between Chef Ramsay and the owners and workers in the different episodes. I got my wife hooked on the shows now too. I like Dillons as well it was great another 5 stars. I have poor cable reception in my area so I have been buying the episodes from Amazon. Hard to describe the show entirely but if you have seen Hells kitchen he brings a little of that part of himself to this show and really makes this interesting. Its not just fixing up a failing restaurant. Which is why I am hooked I guess. I have yet to see the rest of the episodes but I would say if they are anything like the first two its going to be 5 stars for all of them. I highly recommend the show especially if your a fan of Hells kitchen.

It's surprising how many restaurants across America are downright filthy, or full of people who work at them that don't even know what they're doing, or are in such a BIG hurry, don't have time to see their wrong ways. That's what Kitchen Nightmares is all about- a chef with a SERIOUS short fuse, yet very talented when it comes to cooking, going around to different restaurants across America trying his best to make the food as delicious as possible, and the kitchens as clean as possible. Chef Ramsey is all about turning things around and showing the people who work at the restaurants what it's like to be part of a successful business.

Honestly, the show is great, though every episode seems to be exactly the same, with only minor changes, such as some characters giving Chef Ramsey a harder time compared to others. Worth watching though.
