I highly recommend this book to get you through the holidays. wonderful, nostalgic, humorous stories along with easy to follow, detailed cocktail recipes. the names of the drinks really make you want to try them out on your guests, not to mention yourself! like nice and naughty hot chocolate, liquid mistletoe and whatever gets you through the woods! it's very well laid out starting with thanksgiving and ending with new year's. i'm looking forward to trying some of these recipes this season.

I picked up a bunch of these books as holiday gifts for my co-workers and then liked it so much I kept a copy for myself! When you get past the wonderful nostalgic pictures and the hilarious vignettes, you'll find some really great (and sometimes unusual) drink recipes. A friend of mine made the "Hot Toddy" and brought it to our annual tree cutting festivity - delicious!!!

Almost everyone loves a good cocktail and this book is a fun & inventive way to spruce up your holiday drinks. Instead of just opening a bottle of wine try the ligonberry and proscecco concoction! Genius!

Not only is this a great little cocktail book filled with delicious drink recipes, it's the perfect gift to bring to all of your holiday parties. Filled with great vintage photos and short, clever musings, Peterson takes the reader on a hilarious trip back to the recent past. And as for the drinks, try the Hot and Smoky Bloody Mary or "The Hair of the Pit Bull" as Peterson dubs it. Soooo good! Is it noon yet?

Peterson's Holiday Helper is the perfect hostess gift, an essential bar guide, a resource of remedies for whatever ails you over the holiday season, and a really good read. Peterson's sense of humor about the season of good cheer lifts the spirits almost as much as her tonics. And if I didn't know better, I would swear my mother gave Ms. Peterson pictures from our own holiday albums. Someone who could be my great-grandmother's twin is holding down the table of contents with her elbow while raising a glass to her lips. The nostalgic memeories it makes spring to mind are precious. You've really got to get this book.

This is a fun, creative book, full of nostalgic graphics and photos, awesome assortment of cocktail recipes and holiday entertaining ideas. I'm all set for the holidays now!

Entertaining and practical book. The books has great wit and the pictures just add to the overall enjoyment. The cocktails I have tried are excellent! Written with great humor and culinary talent. Excellent gift! Cheers!!!

I heard about this book on Jen Lancaster's blog <www.jennsylvania.com> and immediately ordered it based on her reviews. As she is one of my favorite authors as well as a Coctail Conniossuer, I trust her opinion!
The recipes and antecdotes were just what I needed this past Holiday Season and I've been inspired to host swanky cocktail parties just to try them all out, it's definitely to be used year round.
I'm also a former Bartender and was lucky to have many tools on hand but those that don't won't find it hard to follow.

The cocktails are really delish. Plus I loved the retro design and sensibility of the book. Great hostess gift

This is a very funny book with lot's of great, old photos. Would make a cute hostess or grab gift for the holidays. Also some fun drink ideas for holiday get-togethers. I have a copy on my coffee table, and I've already given a few copies to friends. Everyone is getting a kick out of it, and planning what drink they're going to make for the next party.
