5.0 out of 5 stars If you want a better ACT score, buy this book!
I purchased this book for my daughter after she received a disappointing 26 on her ACT - not horrible, but barely good enough for a highly selective university. She retook the test after following the instructions in this book and taking the sample tests. Usually when a person retakes their ACT, if they change their score at all, it goes up or down by 1 point. My...

1.0 out of 5 stars I found some major problems...
While some of the review material was helpful, I thought the book was bad on the whole. For example, none of the diagrams in the math section of the practice test were properly labeled, so it was impossible to do those problems. I also thought that the practice problems in the English section (grammar, not reading) bore little resemblance to the problems on the...

She retook the test after following the instructions in this book and taking the sample tests. Usually when a person retakes their ACT, if they change their score at all, it goes up or down by 1 point. My daughter's retake score was a 30!!! She said the book made her much more ready and relaxed about taking the test.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful, to the point, quick and dirty, June 11, 1999

I would recommend this book to anyone who only has a couple of weeks to review. It is not indepth, but you don't need a thorough explanation if you are paniced. I had a little fun with the test and skipped all the usual advice you've heard a hundred times. It will do the trick!

2.0 out of 5 stars ACT Taker, January 31, 2002

I would not recommend this book because it is just not that helpful. First, Peterson's is no great test prep company. There is a reason they aren't known for their test prep. The book is very basic and might raise your score from an 18 to a 20, but it won't raise it from a 32 to a 34. The book is great if you aren't even breaking the mean, but if you're aiming for a top score, look somewhere else. Private tutoring perhaps? The Kaplan book is pretty bad too - sadly enough.
