It's a good looking device, seems like the cat may have eventually gotten interested in it, but it's incredibly loud. We set it up in our kitchen, and it was like a meat-grinder running 24/7.
I suppose if you could put it in the garage or somewhere where you couldn't hear it, it would be OK. But I could hear it running overnight, two rooms away in the bedroom when our place was quiet.
We couldn't handle it and returned it.

I have nothing bad to say about this product. Easy to set up and use. A little noisy at first, but it's expected, and passed after just a few minutes. My cats are deathly afraid of any and everything. At first they wouldn't go near it, but I tricked them with a couple of treats close the the base and as they were nibbling, they quickly went in for a little lick. Now, every time I turn around, one of them has their face in it. I have it set on setting #2, and besides the flow being perfect, the motor is virtually silent. I'm so impressed with how cool and refreshing the water is, I have to resist sticking my own face in it. I've recommended it to all my friends with small animals and even purchased a few extra to give as gifts.

Bought this as an "upgrade" for the cats; they were using the white one which got pretty disgusting with mineral stains and whatnot. I thought that I was ordering a fountain made -completely- of stainless steel with this one, but it's not--it's got two panels of stainless steel, one of which doesn't have any contact with the water. Decoration, I guess.

Anyway, the description is misleading, but it's still a great product like the other Petmate fountains, and does look pretty sleek. The cats still love 'em. I just don't know if the current price difference justifies getting this one over another color, since the stainless steel doesn't add much as far as function or ease of cleaning.

Plastic equals cheap in this instance, and I'm sorry, when you're dealing with water I prefer all the components and parts to be tightly put together. The first few weeks this product was great, kept the water fresh, cats enjoyed it.

But then--then the water started soaking the carpet, constantly. At first, I thought the high humidity was causing moisture on the underneath side of the product, but it was the teenie tiny holes between the "stainless steel" plate and the plastic. Depending on the flow of the water down the ramp determined if the water came out in tiny drops or flowed onto the floor freely.

I tried stuffing towels under the fountain but it soaked the towel and then into the carpet. We moved, and now the dish sits on a tile floor, twice in the last week I've walked out in the morning to see a large pool of water and the cat dish nearly empty (and the pump gurgling).

Overall, I do not suggest purchasing this product. Spend a little more and stay away from plastic dishes. Not worth the mess, cleanup, and hassle.

By the way, the product is now off to a landfill somewhere.

The device vibrated and made an annoying sound. It didn't scare off my cat, but it annoyed me. After a while I started to get used to it and would have kept this product, except that it started to overflow. This happened to me twice and I just returned it. I may have gotten a bad one, but I was not pleased with this water dish.

I can not recommend this product. It works well as far as the flow of water is concerned although the capacity is not enough for multiple cats.

My complaint with this product is that it leaks. When I first received the unit I would notice small amounts of water around the dish and assumed it was from my cats drinking. After having this product for several months I discovered this was not the case. It appears that the stainless steel water ramp is inserted into the plastic via tiny holes and this is where the leaking occurs. The puddle around the unit became so large that I had to buy a mat and fill the unit almost daily because the water would run out.

This weekend I tossed the item to the trash and purchased the Drinkwell Platinum. It is one solid piece of plastic so it can not leak. Overall the construction just seems to be a lot better. It also holds a generous amount of water for my 3 cats.

My cats love this fountain. They like to play in the water and to drink from the circulating water in the basin. My cats also like it when I put a few ice cubes in there to play with. That said, the pump frequently stops working, preventing the flow of water down the ramp, and makes very loud gurgling and sucking noises. I can't help but feel frustrated that I have to deal with this problem approximately every few days. When it works, it is great, but the rest of the time it just sucks energy from the outlet but doesn't serve its purpose. I am bummed and wish that these problems could be resolved because my cats really do love it. Great product idea, poor execution.

UPDATE: After the pump completely stopped working and I was unable to exchange it with Amazon, I decided to dismantle this thing entirely to see what was going on. I removed the pump and saw that tons of cat hair had become stuck at the entrance to the pump filter and blocked the flow of water. I was able to remove most of it and it resumed working upon reassembly. Today, the fountain works again and my cats are please...for now. I assume this will happen again, as I have a long hair feline who loves to dip her paws in the basin. It is a pain to take apart and reassemble, but it is better than being broken for good!

We initially used this for daily water needs for our cat, but it is a lot of work to keep clean and the water in good condition. Plan on cleaning this every 5-7 days (the whole unit). Now we use this when we are out of town so our cat has fresh water the whole time. This way we do not have to keep cleaning it on a weekly basis. Works great for this application! not sure i would recommend this for everyday use 24/7/365....

I bought this for my two cats. Out of the box, it was very loud. I kept it for a couple of weeks to see if it would get any better, but it continued to be quite loud and became visibly dirty very easily. I sent this back to amazon and bought the Drinkwell Platinum Pet fountain instead. It is completely silent and thus far seems to only require a once per week cleaning. I would strongly recommend that product over this one.

This is the most frustrating item ever. The pump is complete garbage. Extremely high maintenance to keep from making loud gurgles and whines.
The pump on mine broke after 1 day.
