If you are taking your pet on an airline, this is the only pet crate we could find that was truly "Airline Approved".

Most airlines require a plastic kennel that's bolted together with plastic or metal treaded screws (knob, clamp and clamshell locks are strictly forbidden on almost every airline), not top loading, allow for at least 1.5" of clearance from the sides on all sides, and vented on four sides.

This crate met all but one. The back of the carrier is not vented, but we solved that problem with a power drill and a 1/2" bit. 27 holes later and you have a truly airline approved pet crate.

BOTTOM LINE: IF YOU'RE PUTTING FLUFFY OR FIDO ON AN AIRPLANE, BUY THIS KENNEL!

I breed and raise Great Danes, and this kennel is a wonderful addition to the house. It is big enough for a teenager, and makes them feel secure and safe. Much easier to clean than the wire ones, and you can travel with your giant dog on some airplanes. Too large for any but the biggest planes. But if you work to find an aircraft large enough to accomodate the mammoth size, you can take your friend where ever you go in this crate.

I got this kennel beacause on the product description says that this kennel has rear vents that it is require by the airline I'm using to transport my dog but when I got the kennel delivery to my home I got with the surprise that it didn't have any rear vents like it says on the product description, of course I'm not very happy because this is a product that you buy according to the airline regulations and expend a lot of time looking for the one to fit with all these airline regulations that this product claim to have like the rear vents but it didn't,and now I don't have time to send it back and wait for amazon to send me another one with the rear vents like it says on their product description because I have to travel in a few days only.
I have order other products with amazon and i have always been very satisfied with their productcs and their service but this was my most important purchase because of all these airlines regulations and the lock of time and I couldn't believe this dog kennel didn't have the rear vents like it says on the product descriptions.

This is a roomy carrier especially its height. It is also very sturdily built and has more head room than some of the others I have bought. I feel good about it because my pet no longer looks crouched up in his kennel. The plastic screws on my previous kennel broke and I had to reinforce it with pieces of wire. This one seems much sturdier.

This is an excellent crate and a great value. Beware cheaper ones. I have two "Remington" brand crates that have been giving me nothing but headaches.

My seven year old lab has escaped from metal dog boxes and pretty much anything we have put him in for any length of time. This crate is the only crate he has not been able to escape from because of the twist lock on the door. I have used this crate with him for 6 years. I also use it for my three other dogs. In my opinion, the crate is the best there is!

I have occasion to handle many different pet crates. The petmate varikennel has all the features I want for my dogs: sturdy, lightweight, good ventilation, easy to assemble, and stackable.

The Beast looked at it dubiously, sniffed around a little, did the usual "looking for snakes" dance, and took possession immediately, no reservations. If I can't find her, she's in the crate snoring happily. Strong enough for the 150 lb critter, defeats baggage handlers without breaking a sweat, and still looks great - if imposing.

I received this vari kennel in about a week. It is the premier airline choice so I had no problem shipping my two toy Chihuahuas in it. It is made of durable material and the beige color is nice and neutral. The price was very competitive since the pet stores sell low quality brands for the same price or more.

I was worried because of the previous reviews but ordered the kennel with time to spare before I shipped my 65 lbs boxer 1500 miles. Due to her size and breed I ordered the XL size. It does have ventilation on all four sides and seems to be doing OK. It made the trip with no problem. The only thing that would be better is if it came with food and water bowls.
